This technically isn't a show on broadway (it used to be) but at our school's musical Seussical, my friend's grandpa was in the audience. Her Grandpa is Philip Bosco! After the show, he congratulated us... even techies like myself haha

Robin Williams sat in front of me at "The Rink" years ago.

Pia Lindstom stepped on my foot at the final performace of "A Chorus Line". (She was covering it for WNBC). She apologized several times.

Bruce Villanch wearing a t-shirt at "Tallulah" (Kathleen Turner) in SF.

I saw Matthew Perry -- AKA Chandler Bing -- cheering on Hank Azaria at Spamalot in March.

I saw Mike Tyson's ex-wife, Robin Givens, at Lion King a year ago in May! She sat two seats to the left with her children. 10 minutes before the show ended she left with the woman she was with and her children!

Steve Bushemi (sp?) and Dan Akroyd sat two rows behind me at Spamalot last March. Also saw Jack O'Brien, Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs at a performance of DRS.

Today at History Boys, Natalie Portman, Bernadette Peters, and Joel Grey were all in the audience. People actually stood and pointed at them. Oy.

And Lauren Bacall and Liz Smith were in the audience when I saw Boy From Oz. Ms. Bacall was extremely gracious :)

Jane Krakowski at John Lithgow's last performance of DRS.

Rosie O'Donnell and Alan Cumming at last performance of Les Mis.

"To answer algy's question (which is not actually stupid at all), producers set aside a certain number of house seats and celebrities have their people call and they get to purchase these house seats.Sometimes they get comped in (it's up to the producers) but generally they purchase their seats."

Thanks Overthemoo28 - so it's pretty much the same as the West End with regard to the house seats etc. I guess the "cooler" you are, the more likely you are to get in free with regard to celebs - get the show mentioned in the spotted columns of the papers/magazines.

Saturday night when I was leaving The Wedding Singer, I ran smack dab into Chris Noth. He's tall and has a moustache now.

John Lithgow at Uncle Bob (off off Broadway)

I also used to go to lots of openings, and (obviously) saw a lot of celebrities at those. I'm not going to list them!

Edward Albee was at History Boys when i saw it 2 weeks ago (June 6th) and Wallace Shawn was at Stuff Happens on Wednesday.

I saw Taylor Hanson (yes of the 90s boyband HANSON, which i lived for) at RENT. He was there with his wife.

And was just smokin' hot. haha
