Miss Middle America checking in here!
Just wanted to say that middle Americans like musical theatre too! If we didn't, shows wouldn't need to tour ...there'd be no money in it. My family and I are DYING to see this movie and the trailer only made the wait harder!

I've yet to see it on stage (which I will surely amend before the release date) but the trailer looks great!

Wow! That looks pretty damn amazing!
I'm so glad that movie musicals are making a comeback, and it looks like this one will be the best yet since their rebirth.

Can't believe I'm stuck at work for another hour and can't see the trailer yet! Do you know how excited you guys have made me? Can't wait to get home and give it a perusal!
Off-topic, if you're ever looking for something in a bookstore, please ask the bookseller ONE question at a time. If you ask fifteen things in quick succession - and question everything she says at least twice - then she's going to go STRAIGHT into the foetal position once you've left.
*ahem* Anyway! Roll on hometime so I can check out the trailer!

Oh this looks like so much fun! The original film is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's amazing to see it come full circle! The cast looks perfect. I can't wait to get my hands on that soundtrack.
Quick Question: Why was 'The Madison' cut? It was my one of my favorite numbers in both the original film and the stage version. As a matter of fact back in 1988 when I saw it in theaters that scene is what made me say, "This would make a great musical someday".

Wow...no one's even bothered to answer my question.
I'll take it that no one here knows the answer.
I'll research it myself.

Dark_Angel, I don't think anyone knows exactly why they cut The Madison. That's one song I will miss as well. I love it in the stage show, and I still wish they had included it on the cast recording.

i'll answer it.
Marc said in an interview that The Madison was replaced with 'Ladies Choice' because the original movie's scene was iconic- and they did it so well on stage. They didnt want to copy it once again. I mean how far can you go with The Madison.. it's a line dance. It might have been to much of an '88 carbon copy.
The idea is still there. Only this time Link is singing when he notices Tracy.
and the ropeing off of the black kids and white kids is a great touch.. John Waters mentioned on the dvd commentray that I think Ruth Brown told him about the ropeing off at school dances, and he wished he had known so he could have put it in the movie.
It's done very well in the mvie- and Ladies Choice kicks it!
