ANOTHER "band" show?
I thought this was DOA. Maybe Kenny D figures the cast can do fundraisers for a year to make sure then get paid? I know Constantine Maroulis has been attached to this for a long time, so maybe he can sell some Snickers bars to pay the rent.

Is this another Nerds where a show comes out of nowhere? Or did I just miss all the buzz for this one? It's possible I've got it confused with Pump Boys and Dinettes and other shows where the actors play instruments. Well, at least it's another original musical.
This sounds like an Adam Sandler movie. Lol

the snark concerning this is amazing by the posters above.
jees. I thought this was a board for people who liked theater.
George Street also originally produced It Shoulda Been You back in 2011

Was there any buzz for this at all? Or is it coming out of nowhere?

I think that you will find that the snark is probably more for the producer than the show itself.
i'm dyeing at the fact that this is produced AND written by Ken Davenport.

Except that it wasn't and I am kind of turned off by his taking the full credit for it when he basically had improvisers in a room for a month unpaid writing this show. Even if he did a lot of the heavy lifting and they all agreed he would be credited as the primary book writer... where are their names on the press release?

Bingo
Having just listened to the music, I cannot see this lasting very long. Oof. I mean, maybe it'll prove me wrong and I wish it luck, but it will need it.

With some difficulty I sat through this wreck of a show at George Street. Ugh. A friend later told me couldn't bring himself to sit through Act 2, so he left at intermission. I should have done so. Unless by some miracle it has been turned into a watchable show, I'm not going to be a glutton for punishment this time.

It sounds fun so I am in!
it's announced a year in advance. Let's see if this actually opens.
From the press release:
...And when his high school arch nemesis (with a 20-year-old grudge and a tangerine spray tan) threatens to foreclose on their house, this big-shot banker must save his small-town home the only way he can... by winning The Battle of the Bands.
So he dusts off his guitar, gathers his old gang (the math teacher who isn't good at math, the Irish cop who dreams about being on Broadway, the dermatologist who can't get a date, and a 16-year-old Jewish rapper who makes Vanilla Ice look cool), and sets out to win the battle... and maybe even win back the high school sweetheart he left behind... proving it's never too late to give your dreams one last shot.
This might be just about the worst premise for a musical that I have ever heard. Then again, John Rando also brought us Urinetown so maybe this is one of those "ridiculous on purpose" kind of shows?

I was genuinely asking if I'd somehow missed all the buzz for this show. But after reading that description I have to say... I don't think this show will have very well-written or complex female characters. Just a feeling.
There's your snark.

This sounds baaaadd.
Heads up, tickets are now on sale for this on Telecharge.
It looks like tickets are only $50 in all seats?
Not too many people are going to buy ticket to this 9 months in advance, at ANY price.
The $50 deal is for seven days only, according to an email I just received.

I listened to the cast recording of the original production and I don't see this doing well on Broadway.
