For those interested in such things:
orchestra is 25 players + conductor.
The string section is the only thing different from other revivals of GYPSY: this has 5 violins, 3 celli, and no violas (reasons discussed by Einhorn in an interview a while back).

Realizing that today might be one of the gayer days in the history of the entertainment biz:
- First preview of a GYPSY revival
- opening night of a DEATH BECOMES HER musical
- In movie theaters, a movie about a pair of belting witches will open against a movie about Gladiators
- there are even hate crimes today! (Closing of Big Gay Jam, cancellation of Ragtime concert film)

Tonight is apparently soldout.

They'd have pulled any remaining seats off sale for production/company comps by now.
Sprung for an orchestra seat to see this tonight to be in the room for what is sure to be an electric, history-making evening (and hopefully a free totebag lol). I've been a skeptic of Audra's voice for this role, but going in hoping to be pleasantly surprised. First time seeing Gypsy, so it's going to be a big night for my little gay heart.

There’s still some seats for sale on telecharge for a very reduced price (from what they were)

I feel almost nervous. I love Audra. I love Gypsy. I love George C. Wolfe. So… Maybe what feels like nerves is really just excitement and anticipation.
Sing out, Louise!

I just got into the city and even though the weather is absolutely revolting, I can't wait. Heading to Sardi's for dinner, and ready for some Audra magic! With my early flight to San Francisco tomorrow, I may not even sleep!

I'm participating in this very gay day. Just got out of Wicked, meeting a friend for drinks, and then we're off to the Majestic for the first preview of Gypsy. Let's goooooo!

Cheers to The Majestic tonight. First new production in that space since 1988.

It's gonna be one of those nights when the men's room line is way longer than the ladies'.

Photos of the set I’ve seen look really uninspiring/ hope it’s not a cheap production like Patti’s

Of all the things I'm excited for tonight, this ranks pretty high up there. Kidding. Sort of.

Will the full frontal nudity be in the first act? Second act? BOTH acts? So many questions about to be answered.
Posted: 11/21/24 at 6:47pm
I guess the playbill isn't surprising since that's the only logo we've seen, but I wish it was different.

4th and 5th row Orchestra Center still available for tonight. Price drop: $216.

Continuous, they didn't finish Herbie's costume.
