I will sadly never see this ( Australia, here ) but I can’t shake the feeling that this will flop. Not sure why, but I hope not. Looking forward to hearing the reports back.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Gypsy Rose Lee was a burlesque stripper so she never once stripped fully nude. Her “gimmick” was her witty dialogue as she removed pieces of her costume. She primarily used a large hat in her costuming so she used it wisely during her act. The “You Gotta Have a Gimmick” sequence is basically explaining the whole idea of having a “gimmick.” Gypsy was already retired by the time full nude stripping started in that industry.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
But seriously, if there is nudity, I would have to imagine it would be something in passing like in the strippers' dressing room to lend it more authenticity.

I would imagine it would be.Wolfe is a formidable director, but he doesn't do "high" concept or shtick. Not saying that these concepts cant be done well, it's just not his thing."
Agree. He's very straight forward / basic with direction. The SHOW has to be creative and in term makes him look better. This will be interesting to see if he can add charm to this standard. Since he has been doing movies maybe his creativity has been enhanced for stage?
