The Grease website is now live with cast and creative team bios, but most interestingly (I think, anyway) is that set renderings by designer Derek McLane have been posted in the photo gallery section of the site.
Updated 7/10 - Visit the www.greaseonbroadway.com website, look under "photo gallery" to see Martin Pakledinaz's costume renderings for the production.

Just judging by those set designs alone, this is going to be one great production. Having seen the original Broadway production several times in my youth, I'm quite pleased they are remaining somewhat faithful to it's set design instead of that day-glo neon explosion of the 1994 Broadway revival, which I loved also.
I love that fold-out design for Frenchie's bedroom -- very reminiscent of the fold-out sets from the recent Roundabout revival of THE WOMEN.
Here's hoping their actual reproduction surpasses these sketches.
i think they look tacky. Except the ranch house, the hat box house, and the drive in... everything else has a thick layer of cheese to it... but you know that is probably the directoral and design concept... cheez whiz...
Yikes. Let's see... I do like the drive in set, the football(?) field set and what might be the auditorium or gym set for the dance. As for everything else I hope they look better on stage. I really want to like this revival, but I'm not liking the sets so far. I don't like the tower of lockers that seem to be present for most of the design. They remind me of the last scene in the second Men in Black movie. I don't like the show curtain if that's what that first picture is. It looks like they're gonna spend most of the design money on the burger palace set with looks like a burger palace from outer space. I don't get the band being on top of the sets for some of the scenes and not all of them. Pick one please, and I despise "split screen" effects if that's what third to last rendering is.

What is "da"?

Almost worth seeing for those sets alone. Although I miss the black and white photos at the back of the wall from the original production, they look like they have the style nailed. Not a big fan of the "Rock and Roll" thing on the football field set. Too cliche.
I got rid of my teeth at a young age because... I'm straight. Teeth are for gay people. That's why fairies come and get them
The towers of lockers really annoy me for some reason. I don't really get what's so special about the drive in set. But, however, I really like the idea of being able to see the band above the stage.
A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.
I live the idea of the lockers, and thought of something similar while watching the TV show, but not that it looks too flat, but looks too centralized and symetrical, nothing is happening off to the sides, and i am sure they could find a more creative solution to the legs/wings in stead of just black legs. I like the split level though, but is this a trend these days for not using the orchestra pit?
