AFAIK Bryshere will be filming Empire during the time of Hairspray rehearsals. Plus I imagine Fox would rather he not (if they'd even allow him to) participate in an NBC live musical when Fox has its own musical slate. Though come to think of it, Jussie would've been a great choice as he can sing and dance; Bryshere is more a rapper.

Yea that's true. I think they are sticking with casting people in their early 20s cause they can play high schoolers that's why I chose those 2 actors for seaweed. I can't wait to find out who is seaweed and hope they kept the big dollhouse which I think they did.
Uhh... Zendaya is getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for feature film appearances. Raven is making millions a year to appear on The View. That ain't happening. Ever.
teddy1996: "Diggy's voice isn't even that great. And justice only acts. He doesn't sing"
I said Diggy is a singer, which is correct. I didn't suggest that everyone thinks he's great. Not everybody thinks Harvey Firestein, Derek Hough, or Garrett Clayton have "great voices" either. They all sing though.
Re: Justice - http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/12/entertainment/justice-smith-the-get-down/ --- "Both my parents are musicians so they're both artists and my sister's a singer as well, and they had thought that I was going to become a musician ... And she's always like, 'You have such a great voice.' You know how a mom is — very biased. Then I got this show and I was like, 'Okay, I guess I have to do this anyway.' [Laughs] But it was cool. I had that indirect training in music from my parents growing up, so it wasn't completely new to me. Although, rap was very new. But because I think I understood music to an extent, it was easy to jump in headfirst."
Like many performing arts school graduates he doesn't "only act", and if necessary many actors learn either how to dance a certain style and/or learn specific choreography for Broadway, movies, or TV. Heck, that's the whole premise of DWTS, and the reality of many Hollywood actors and recording artists who make the jump to Broadway.

You're absolutely right, but I was trying to name actresses who would both be a stretch or would be more realistic (the more "Broadway" women I named, like Warren, Ghebremichael, James). I just figured I'd drop some more "celebrity" names because if they managed to get someone as big as Ariana Grande (who I never would have thought they could nail down even though she's been my dream Penny for years), nothing is impossible.
The Dynamites are a glorified ensemble track. Their big number isn't even "their" song, the way something like "Beauty School Dropout" is in Grease. It's a production number that's led by Tracy.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Winkour's in it. I wonder if they're bringing in Ricki Lake & Nikki Blonsky, too.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
People just posted this first look at Fierstein and Bailio in the new costumes for the show.
They look okay. Maybe it's just the lighting or the weird scenic design they're placed in. I love William Ivey Long's original costumes so much and kind of wished they had him return as costume designer for this. Hopefully they'll work on it for when it actually airs.

I don't love those. Looks like a cheesy regional production. What's with Harvey's gogo boots? Ugh. Wish they'd use William Ivey Long's designs from the Broadway production.
Apart from Edna's dress' length, the actual design seems very much inspired by the Bway production. The hair belongs to La Cage though. And them boots have to go. Na uh.
Tracy's dress does not look... High School enough? I think they've made it more modern as well as mature looking. It might be that fabric (and that disgusting belt).
I still love this picture, though. Cannot wait for this production :)
