Today Jen sese was on as Peggy/Maria but something happened to Ta’rea and from the wedding scene on, she (jen) was Angelica with no one as Peggy. Sadly I had to go to my paying job before I found out who went on as Maria. Gotta love live theater.

Closed the deal today on my Broadway in Pittsburgh season tickets. Yeah! Even more excited now knowing I’ll be seeing the Hamilton National Tour twice, once each with the Philip and Angelica casts. Still three weeks away from my birthday and Cleveland.

My neighbor’s kids seem to have the OBCR memorized. They’re “Hamilton” junkies and turned me on to a book by Ron Chernow that I’m picking up tomorrow to read before the show. Hopefully I can finish its 800+ pages by then.

I'm driving up to Cleveland (from Cincinnati) to see Hamilton on its final day there! Looks like Cincinnati is getting the other cast in February, so hopefully I'll have a chance to see both. Cincy is only a 3 week engagement compared to Cleveland's 6-week one, which is why I tried for those tix and got lucky. I saw the show in Chicago last year and am excited to see it again!

I received an email today from a friend of mine in Cleveland that ticket sales have opened back up for its run in July/August. Prices are quite a bit higher than what I paid when I snagged one on the first day it was available (and sold out/closed within four hours).

Yeah, I happened to be on the Playhouse website the other day and saw that they opened up sales again, but it was all premium seating. I think I spent about 45 minutes in the online queue when the original sale happened and managed to get non-premium dress circle seats for August (because this theatre is weird and front orchestra is called dress circle? I don't really get it). I'm on extreme house right, but in Chicago I was extreme house left so it'll be fun to see it from "the other side"

In regards to the show's playlist, when does Act 1 end, and what song starts Act 2? Just want to get an idea, that when I am sitting at the show, when to anticipate a dash off to the souvenir stand and restrooms. Thanks! :)

Non-Stop is the Act 1 closing, and What'd I Miss opens Act 2.

The only person out was Austin Scott as Hamilton. I was initially very disappointed that he was out, but Edred Utomi was fantastic.

A newcomer to the cast this week was Bryson Bruce who is now Lafayette/Jefferson. I wasn't sure how he would be seeing as though he just started on Tuesday. No worries - he was wonderfully delightful. I liked his characterization for roles.

I have seen both the Broadway and Chicago companies as well. I truly enjoy seeing the different interpretations of the various roles.

I really enjoyed Nicholas Christoper's take on Aaron Burr. It took me a bit of time getting used to how tall he was, as Ikept picturing him as George Washington like he played on Broadway. He was quite different from Leslie Odom Jr and Joshua Henry. I still think Joshua is my favorite of the three, but Nicholas's In the Room Where it Happened was excellent.

There are no weak links in this cast. I'm looking forward to seeing it again on July 3rd.

For the first time, I had no issues with sound in the 2nd tier.

This makes me so happy! I am seeing it in August at the KenCen! It will be my first time and I am bringing my parents.  Our last show all together was Les Mis on tour years ago, so I'm excited for a really great family outing!  I wish my nephew was old enough to bring, he's three and LOVES dancing to the OBCR.

Even more specifically, when Hamilton begins to ascend the stairs at the end of Non-Stop, be perched on the edge of your seat.

I know it’s not technically part of the national tour, but I’m excited that my work travel has me in Chicago again in two weeks so I bought my ticket yesterday to see Hamilton again on the 18th.

It will be my third time to see it. I was lucky enough to see it the first time in November 2015 with the original broadway cast with exception of Jonathan Groff (who was shooting the series finale movie of the HBO show Looking). I got Andrew Rannells as King George, which was awesome. I saw it the second time last November when I was in Chicago (the first time) for work. Although nothing will ever compare to the OBC, I loved it even more the second time as I had much better seats and was more familiar with the music and story. Even before that, it was (and remains) my favorite musical of the almost 80 musicals I’ve seen. So excited for my third time!

While I’m here, anyone know if there have been any significant changes to the Chicago cast since November?

My recommendation: when you enter the venue, ask the ticket taker at the door where the merch booths are. I have seen Hamilton in three different cities and they almost always have more than one location. The one closest to the entrance usually has the longest line, but sometimes one booth has more items.

I would really recommend that you arrive early and buy your merch before the show and then you can save intermission for running to the bathroom. It’s possible you won’t have time to do both because the lines for the bathroom and the merch booth are usually long at intermission.

For what it’s worth, some tour stops have a Hamilton backdrop to take photos but the line is long so that can add to your list of things to do.

Some of this will vary on the layout, staffing, and traffic control of the venue. In Las Vegas, I waited about 15 minutes to take a picture in front of the official backdrop. They had one merch line that was parallel to the photo line and it took about as long as the photo line (and they had multiple cashiers). In San Francisco, they didn’t have a photo backdrop anywhere inside, but they had six huge signs on the outer walls of the building so it took us maybe two minutes to choose one, wait for other people to finish taking their pictures, and then jump in. In San Diego, they had three merch booths and the line was longest at the upstairs one which had the most cashiers, but even that one was less than five minutes. They also had a merch booth set up outside the venue with only two cashiers that had no line at all when I arrived.

But having seen all the available merch at three different tour stops, I would just order what you want online from the official merch website. They have everything available there and you don’t have to waste any time standing in line or stowing the bag under your seat during the show. If you buy shirts in person, hold it up to see how big it is. My sister bought a unisex shirt (the bluish grey Rise Up) and only found out after she got home that it was too big. You can exchange sizes in the mail and it was a fairly quick process but better to avoid that if possible!

^ ^ ^ Thank you for all of this. I’m seeing the show twice, once each at the State Theater Playhouse Square (Cleveland) and the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts (Pittsburgh). I’ve never been to the former, but the latter only has one area where they sell souvenirs, albeit like with “WICKED”, it may be several booths end to end to end and cover a much larger area.

I always arrive before the street doors open so that I can get inside early and scope out the merchandise. I’d buy all of my souvenirs in advance except the window cards, which may or may not be the same at each stop, or in case they have autographed ones for sale. I don’t want it to get damaged while I’m sitting for Act 2.

And this will be the first time I won’t be front row balcony, so getting to the restrooms in a expeditious manner will be a little trickier.

Looking forward to a “Hamilton” backdrop. That would be very cool!

Yay, can't wait to hear what you think about the two different casts!

Just to give you an idea of the vastly different photo op situations:

San Francisco (note: the SF pictures are not mine, just photos I found on IG):

San Diego (It's hard to tell from the angle, but the sign in the first photo is huge but super tall so it wasn't great for taking pictures with people in them. In the second photo you can just barely see at the bottom that there are smaller silhouettes that you could take pictures with but everyone was trying to take pictures with the big sign hanging on the side of the building):

GREAT pictures. It’ll be interesting to see how the two different theaters handle the exterior “Hamilton” signage, and whether it will be as extensive as that. I can only pray. HAMILTON National Tour

The two shows I’m seeing are approximately five months apart, with seven other shows in between them, so hopefully I can remember the first cast well enough to compare them both.

I was really surprised that the Las Vegas venue had no other signs (inside or outside) for people to take pictures in fromt of. The only things in the main lobby were that official backdrop, the cast list, and the merch booth. There wasn’t even a small poster with the show name and logo.  There was one electronic poster outside the building that cycled through future shows but I never saw Hamilton show up on it.

I saw the show in May 2017, January 2018, and June 2018 but I still remember the first cast I saw very vividly, so I’m sure you’ll remember enough to compare the two casts!

After seeing the Angelica company again last night, I have an even greater appreciation of this show and this particular cast. Out of the four different Hamilton's I have seen, Edred Utomi is definitely my favorite. I enjoyed Nicholas Christopher as Burr even more this time.  There is so much to take in that I end up hearing/seeing something new each and every time I have seen the show.  There is one guy in the ensemble (Raymond Baynard) in particular who had such stunning arm positions. I found myself watching him periodically because he's such a beautiful (both physically and the way he moved) dancer.

As I didn't mention them in my earlier post a couple of weeks ago, Julia Harriman, Sabrina Sloan, and Isa Briones, were wonderful as the Schuyler sisters. As Isa Briones understudies Eliza, I'd love to see her in that role.

I was in row U of the orchestra, and the view was great.  I'll keep playing the daily lottery, because I'd love to see this cast/production at least one more time before they leave DC in September.

The friend I went with last night said it definitely lived up to the hype. He absolutely loved it.

Finished reading Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton. What a great book, and so much detail that brought more meaning and depth to the lyrics of the songs in the musical. Incredible life and history Alexander Hamilton had.

Also started watching on Netflix the AMC Original Series Turn over the weekend. So far I’ve really enjoyed this, but it’s forty episodes long. It’ll give me something to continue watching after seeing the Hamilton National Tour this Friday.

I saw this Saturday afternoon, my third time (first 2 in NY).  This cast is amazing.  Loved every minute of the show.  We saw Isa Briones as Eliza and she's stunning.  Austin Scott is really wonderful (and really tall).  And I agree with you about Nicholas Christopher.  We were in row T in the orchestra and the sight lines were great - and more importantly, the sound was clear as a bell.  I could actually understand all the words.  A coup for the cast and the sound engineers.

My husband wasn't able to make it, so I'm hoping to snag a couple of tickets before the show leaves here so he can see it - and I can see it again.  Spectacular!!

^ ^ ^ Today’s the day!!! Celebrating birthday #59 today in the Playhouse Square theater district of beautiful downtown Cleveland - staying just steps away from the State Theater - and the evening performance of the Philip Cast in “Hamilton”. Yeah! This is only the fourth performance of the show in Cleveland since it started on July 17th, and it’ll be here until August 26th.

Had the opportunity to tour the very large, ornate, and gorgeous lobby of the State Theater and saw tonight’s listing of performers: very glad to see Jospeh Morales playing! Also, standing in as Charles Lee will be Phil Colgan, and as Philip Schuyler/James Reynold/Doctor will be Julian Ramos, with swing Camden Gonzales performing.

Looking forward to the show!!!
