Is it typical of Wonza Johnson to take the lead on weekends? I’m seeing the show on a Friday evening in Cleveland and was hoping to see Joseph Morales since he was Hamilton in the sit-down Chicago cast. I saw a tiny bit of his YouTube performance and loved his energy and voice.

Great. Thanks! This is a 4hr one-way car trip with an overnight hotel, and a special birthday treat to myself to see this show. Been listening to the OBCR album for weeks and last night decided to bring up all the lyrics for each and every song. Slowly finding out this is going to be a great history lesson as well on a lot of things I really didn’t even know. Hamilton was an amazing man, and I can see now why Lin-Manuel Miranda though it a good idea to write the show.
It would still seem unprecedented that we’ll have a musical with TWO simultaneous official National Tours while still playing in NYC on Broadway, and with multiple official sit-down productions in London, Chicago, and possibly a third in another major city, all at the same time”
And? I was responding to that. I was just pointing out that it really isn’t that unprecedented for shows to have two tours and a bunch of other sit downs.
I saw the Angelica tour 3 times and saw the Phillip tour a couple week ago. I think the OTC of the Angelica tour was stronger overall. Part of that was the combination of Michael Luwoye as Hamilton and Joshua Henry as Burr. Their performances were mesmerizing. When we saw the Phillip Tour, Nik Walker, Ta'rea Campbell and Shoba Narayan were out. Their understudies were excellent. Julius Thomas was on as Burr, Jen Sese as Eliza, and Emily Jenda as Angelica. Joseph Morales was the weak link for me. I wanted his Hamilton to be a little more energetic and passionate. I really enjoyed Kyle Scatliffe as Lafayette/Jefferson. He made the roles his own. He made choices with Jefferson that I haven't seen before and brought so much energy to the stage. Plus, I loved seeing all 6'5" of him doing some serious dance moves on the stage. I was also impressed by Nyla Sostra as Peggy/Maria. Her "Say No to This" blew me away. Marcus Choi was wonderful as George Washington. He brought the right presence/authority to the role. I loved Isaiah Johnson's voice as Washington in the Angelica Tour, but he didn't command the stage. I still enjoyed the Phillip Tour cast immensely.

Exactly. Additionally, several other shows had two U.S. tours a Broadway production, and multiple international companies playing concurrently: Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera (which also had an additional U.S. sit-down). Both Ragtime and Show Boat at one point during their runs also had two tours plus the Broadway production.
I saw the Angelica tour last night in DC, and all I can say is, WOW!!!
The only person out was Austin Scott as Hamilton. I was initially very disappointed that he was out, but Edred Utomi was fantastic.
A newcomer to the cast this week was Bryson Bruce who is now Lafayette/Jefferson. I wasn't sure how he would be seeing as though he just started on Tuesday. No worries - he was wonderfully delightful. I liked his characterization for roles.
I have seen both the Broadway and Chicago companies as well. I truly enjoy seeing the different interpretations of the various roles.
I really enjoyed Nicholas Christoper's take on Aaron Burr. It took me a bit of time getting used to how tall he was, as I kept picturing him as George Washington like he played on Broadway. He was quite different from Leslie Odom Jr and Joshua Henry. I still think Joshua is my favorite of the three, but Nicholas's In the Room Where it Happened was excellent.
There are no weak links in this cast. I'm looking forward to seeing it again on July 3rd.
For the first time, I had no issues with sound in the 2nd tier.

I really enjoyed seeing the Phillip cast last weekend. I got to see Wonza Johnson and Julius Thomas III as Hamilton and they were both great. Shoba might just be my favorite Eliza--what a beautiful voice. All of the principals were great--though I didn't get to see Jon Patrick Walker. I'm hoping I'll get to see him this weekend. I also loved Jen Sese as Peggy/ Maria and Emily Jenda as Eliza.
I don't think I can say which tour cast I thought was. stronger. They're both great.
I haven't had a chance to check the cast yet, but I just got terrific seats at the Kennedy Center for mid-August; 6th row center orch...now they were $600 but the fury and fever of people in DC clamoring for tix and standing in line for days is so, either, overblown PR and/or really "novice" ticket buyers. I could have bought 4 but it's just us two again...the Post, the tv stations...reporting waiting 2 days to pay $1500 a seat is just absurd. Gotta check the cast soon!!
Anyone know what the deal is with Austin Scott (Hamilton - Angelica tour)? How is he in the role? He was out on Friday when I saw the show. A friend of mine is there tonight and he's out again. I happened to like Edred Utomi, but I'm wondering if Austin tends to miss a lot of shows. Thanks.

Has anyone done the cancellation/standby line for the Hamilton tour? Specifically, DC, but I’ll take whatever info I can get. What time do people arrive, how long are the lines, how many tickets are typically available, prices, etc.?
I was at The Kennedy Center last night to see Ain't Too Proud, so I went over to the box office to check out the cancellation line. There were only 5 people in line, and around 7:30 it looked like two people were called to the box office. I'm not sure how much they paid, or where their seats were. When I was there Tuesday night to see Audra McDonald, I was told no tickets were offered at the cancellation line.

Sounds like you missed out on Joseph Morales as Hamilton. Joseph’s performance is pretty close to LMM’s. Joseph also played LMM’s role on the In the Heights tour. So there is a history there.
I hope Shoba gets to play Eliza on Broadway. She is fantastic. She may be better than Phillipa Soo.
Finally saw Joseph Morales and Jon Patrick Walker in their respective roles last night. I loved the former but wasn't really a fan of the latter (his voice was kind of grating.)
I had no idea there was anything wrong with Kyle Scatliffe during last night's performance until there was an announcement at intermission that he was being replaced by King David Jones--he killed it!

Kyle missed a few shows in Salt Lake, so I did get to see Kyle and King David. I prefer Kyle but I often couldn’t make out the words in some of his raps. It often was jumbled. Diggs may have created a role that cannot be replicated. Some of the lines are impossible to perform.
Walker’s version of King George is great. Definitely unique in his own way. I wonder if he will get a shot on Broadway.
I think the current B'way cast is fine on the men's side: Michael Luwoye, Daniel Breaker, and Anthony Lee Medina are great, Euan Morton is good, James Monroe Inglehart is ok but ...
Lexi Lawson and Mandy Gonzalez are definitely very weak. They just seemed to be on total auto-pilot the night I saw them.

I saw Austin as Hamilton about two weeks ago and thought he was sensational in the role. He has a beautiful deep voice and he plays a Hamilton that changes throughout the show quite well. At the beginning he was a quirky, almost nerdy guy out of his element but by Act II he portrayed Hamilton with great maturity and resolve. I'm not sure why he's missing shows, probably a scheduled vacation or illness.
I also saw Edred and loved his performance as well. They're both great Hamiltons and it would be difficult to rank one over the other since they brought different strengths and acting choices to their performances.
Last week was my first time seeing Hamilton, so I had nothing to compare him to (other than LMM's voice on the cast album), but I thought Austin Scott was very good.
