I also heard that TAKE THE LEAD was aiming to make its transfer to Broadway, but not until the summer/early fall. They’ve workshopped and rewrote some of it since then. I don’t think they will be able to turn it around and plug it in that quickly though.

isn't Mexodus staying (smartly) off Broadway downtown, just moving to the Daryl Roth ?
When was that announced?"
It wasn't. Rumored. Since the Obama musical recently closed - the rumor was Mexodus was going to attempt the space ?
Magic Mike Live is corralling press in NYC for some mystery announcement next week....would they mount another production here? New York audiences are way different than Vegas, nevertheless I could see it filling the Shubert for a time since it's a recognizable title for tourists.
Maybe WANTED could do a limited run at the Schubert or swap with Majestic? HUZZAH seems in the vain of SCHMIGADOON? We did not see it. Maybe something will bring in a new life to the new musical race.

If it came in this season, it would've made deadoutlawillion dollars. I miss Dead Outlaw, it needs a tour or an off broadway remount"
Nah, it would still flop. Despite good, non typical for Broadway score, it was grim, poorly staged in the wrong theater and the story didn't have universal appeal. Even downtown it wasn't all that. It's your classic critics darling but not very popular with paying audiences. Like a cult movie that bombs but earns a devoted following.
Are posts here being deleted or is it just that weird glitch where a new page of a thread isn't loading?
Anywhoo...posting to try and load a phantom page!

Bull Durham was wretched at paper mill. That being said, Frozen was even worse and that show ran a couple years on Broadway.

They are indeed doing a NY run, but it won’t be on Broadway. And it’s a male dance revue, not a theatre piece.

Bull Durham struck out with both critics and audiences at Papermill, couldn’t sell tickets and cost the theater a fortune. It’s not going anywhere but back in drawer.
Oh I know Magic Mike is not a theater piece...I just figured Shuberts were fine putting SOMETHING in their flagship during a vacant period instead of letting it sit empty haha. They're also working with a press office that handles Broadway and Off-Broadway theater, which also made me wonder.
Here's hoping some show is ready to swoop in.

I will eat a shoe if that monstrosity ever comes to Broadway
Slam Frank will likely mount a full off- broadway production at some point in the near future, but the idea of a non-union show with barely any technical elements and a shoestring budget jumping from the Asylum straight to the Shubert is hilarious.

Do we think Griswold’s Broadway Vacation has any steam?
They just released that EP last month… was that a sign? I wouldn’t put it past Ken Davenport to rush a show in.

They could put a play in there at short notice before Tony cut off, maybe a London transfer of All My Sons with Bryan Cranston?

ALL MY SONS seems to want the Belasco next season, and I don't think they're getting that house.

God, I wish they'd just immediately transfer American Psycho from the Almeida in the Spring. We're ready for it this time-I swear!!!

I would’ve thought the Belasco is one of the least desirable theatres to have and the double Tony winning Bryan Cranston was one of the desirable names on Broadway?

Network played the Belasco, maybe Cranston has an affection for it

I predict MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD & EVIL, ALL MY SONS, or BENJAMIN BUTTON

Girl they haven’t even opened in London yet!
The Belasco is also, y'know, currently occupied by MHE, which does not seem to be in danger of closing.
Again- in such a tight turnaround time, for a production to take the Shubert and open by the Tony deadline, it basically has to be as close to ready to go right now as it feasibly could be. A load in would need to be happening in early to mid March, which is two months away.
