So funny. So racist. So basic."
Why is it related to race?
You are almost saying Kecia’s previous behavior was based on her race.
Being 24/7 high on playing the race card is not good for health
Rumors are flying that this was supposed to have recently closed by now, but an investor swooped in and kept the show open another month-plus, making it nearly impossible for another title to snag the Shubert for the spring.

A two person, live-looped, critically acclaimed, but still relatively niche musical in a 1502 seat theatre with three levels?
I love MEXODUS as much as the next person, but you must have money you can just light on fire with a bet like that."
Titanique is playing the St James i think all logic is out the window right now, it would clearly be an awards play if anything"
TITANIQUE is a comparatively larger show that can be scaled up (like TAMMY FAYE - not the best example, I admit). MEXODUS is more or less a song cycle. Granted, throwing the balcony out of play brings it down to about the size of the Schoenfeld.
Why would an investor swoop in to help extend the show by just a month or two?
Edit: I was responding to a post that is now mysteriously gone.
Congratulations to Brandon, Maleah, Kecia, Shoshana, and everyone else for originating these great roles. I had so much fun watching this show at the Public and on Broadway. This will be very successful on tour and regional theaters in the future. Bravo!

Same rumor popped up on the Reddit thread. Either the same person or there’s something to it. It does seem odd though.
Didn’t see this deleted one but the Reddit one said it blocked another show.

Or a 4th run of Beetlejuice.

Not the same person! There does seem to be an air of credibility with this report though, as multiple people in that Reddit thread claim they know about it.

It’s really a shame HK couldn’t have announced this a few weeks earlier, and maybe Death of A Salesman could have switched theatres to the Shubert, and Mamma Mia! could have become an open ended run on Broadway, and they could have rehearsed and built a new tour…

Kevin McCollum is the lead producer of PRADA. He also has TWO STRANGERS, not that that should be a big factor.
Agreed that if something is opening this spring, we should expect to be hearing about it within the next week or two if auditions need to happen. But it could begin rehearsal in mid-Feb for early April previews. Crazier things have happened.

The Winter Garden makes Scott Rudin's microscopic willy go boing boing for some reason, if he produces more in the future, he'll probably always want that one.

Could it be slam frank coming in? They’ve said explicitly they will have another life and said an announcement is coming soon.

I always love referring back to the examples from 2010 and 2024, where EVERYDAY RAPTURE replaced LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART in 10 days from cancellation to first preview, and ILLINOISE jumping into the St. James 16 days after SPAMALOT closed.

The timing is very weird. Too late for any show to mount for an April opening unless it is ready and was planned in the background, and too soon for th cast to draw out the farewell.
I don’t love this show at the Public but hats off for a great run.

Prada would get crucified on Broadway. It’s absolutely terrible.

Really hope we get something into the Shubert that will shake up this lackluster season! Oh Dead Outlaw, I wish you waited! This would be your time to shine!

If it came in this season, it would've made deadoutlawillion dollars. I miss Dead Outlaw, it needs a tour or an off broadway remount

What’s the status of Goddess? Or Purple Rain? Or Hippest Trip?

I remember being shocked and very delighted when Illinoise pulled that off. If something goes in it needs to be small and ready. Prada is definitely not either one of those things. And as brilliant and exciting as Mexodus was downtown, I'm not sure it's a good idea to bring it to Broadway in such a large space considering what happened when Dead Outlaw did it. Producers are much more careful after last year's embarrassing over-saturation of shows.
Was it in 2018 Rocktopia played the Broadway Theatre for 6 weeks? I can definitely see something like that coming in for a stint with a show like Midnight in the Garden… or Devil Wears Prada having a summer opening.
PRADA feels likely.
I also heard that HUZZAH! is fully capitalized and that could be a good fit for the Schubert.
There’s also Bull Durham.

isn't Mexodus staying (smartly) off Broadway downtown, just moving to the Daryl Roth ?
They should see if there is REAL interest beyond a few off Broadway runs. Broadway may not be the best idea for this one
Illinoise, Lady Day, Deaf West Spring Awakening, Sidney Brustein, and Everyday Rapture all had very tight windows between announcement and start of previews. The shows being discussed here for the Shubert are all a good deal larger.
It also depends on who the producer is. HUZZAH and PRADA have seasoned producers who can raise quickly. BULL DURHAM does not.
Bull Durham? They wouldn't be that stupid considering there is no appetite for that show.

When was that announced?
