This idea will also go over great with everyone who was complaining that it was too soon for a DEATH OF SALESMAN revival. The last AMS revival was 2019 (with Tracy Letts and Annette Bening)
While I know it almost certainly wont happen this season, this theater would be absolutely perfect for Paddington.

isn't Mexodus staying (smartly) off Broadway downtown, just moving to the Daryl Roth ?
When was that announced?"
It wasn't. Rumored. Since the Obama musical recently closed - the rumor was Mexodus was going to attempt the space ?"
Mexodus is going to the Daryl Roth. There’s no way it’s going to that big house. Titanique is still struggling to fundraise. A fully funded big new musical or last minute starry play will take the Shubert.

So funny. So racist. So basic."
Why is it related to race?
You are almost saying Kecia’s previous behavior was based on her race.
Being 24/7 high on playing therace card is not good for health"
When people say “race card” it’s obvious to me they don’t know who dealt it. The lowlife internalized racism on these boards isn’t good for your health, but you idiots wear it proudly bc you’re behind a username without accountability. Moving on bc you’re not worth it.
Back to the topic. I hope an exciting new musical enters the chat.
Something is wonky with this thread. A page break hasn’t happened but should’ve and posts have disappeared when page breaks did occur. And the main board is reporting there are fewer replies than there actually are.
Edit: this post seems to have forced the page break. Weird.

I'd kill for a 'Your lie' or 'Death Note" transfer.
One has to assume there is a compelling opportunity prompting Hell’s Kitchen to close, especially considering what many view as a surprisingly short advance notice for a long-running show. While the timing may not entirely align from a practical standpoint, Paddington is the only show mentioned in this thread that feels to me like the kind of juggernaut that would sway the Shuberts to make the theatre available. Would the theatre require any alterations or renovations for Paddington to arrive (presumably) next season...?

I was delighted to read that it returned its investment and a 60% return on investment; I had not read that, and had no idea where it stood or what its weekly break-even is. It is clearly past its peak grossing times, demonstrated by its good, but not spectacular Christmas season grosses.
Isn't it possible that the producers decided to take the money and run, not risking the possibility of having enough money losing weeks as to reduce the investor's return. Since this was never a mega-hit, did they figure that the road company was likely going to have some negative impact on the grosses (are tourists going to buy tickets in NYC if it is coming to their city, when there are other shows to see that are not?)
Entirely possible, especially since the star casting hadn’t exactly moved the needle much. Pretty much any gains they would’ve made with the star casting was probably eaten up by the star salary.
I do wonder if Kecia is going to come back for the final month or Yolanda will extend. They might also just promote one of the understudies for the last month as a cost cutting measure.

I think you misread that. It has not recouped. Per the NYT:
The Broadway run has not recouped its $22 million capitalization — vanishingly few new Broadway musicals have become profitable since the coronavirus pandemic — but Keys said “Hell’s Kitchen” has returned 60 percent of that amount to its investors, and she expects the touring productions to lead to eventual profitability.
Vanessa is going to be in town next month for a run at 54 Below. I can easily see an announcement coming for PRADA while she's here in the Spring/Summer. I think it'd be easier/smarter for them to just come in after the Tony deadline and catch on the the attention from the sequel to boost ticketing sales.
Back in my ticketing days, we had someone call every 3-4 months since the show was first announced in like 2017 seeing if it was on sale for Broadway yet. There's an appetite that would be perfect for the summer tourism crowd, regardless of reviews.

They are indeed doing a NY run, but it won’t be onBroadway. And it’s a male dance revue, not a theatre piece."
Also heard this. They are getting a separate space put together ala Mamma Mia The Party.

I hope Prada goes into the Marquis where they can showcase the costumes
That show is so bland and lifeless. I didn’t enjoy it at all when I saw it in London.
leave the Shubert out of it LOL

Thanks for correcting. I was surprised wherever I read it, and concluded that its breakeven must have been lower than I assumed. Disappointed to hear.

Kelsee Kimmel was originally slated to end her run as Jersey on the 11th... then extended to the 25th, and now for the rest of the run.
It's pretty clear they were trying to negotiate a name that would keep them going, but it didn't work out.

I'm assuming that for any of these productions, aside from the actual piece being ready, they would need to have a good number of investors/co-producers in place? I would think it would be difficult to raise $$$ on such short notice?

It had a very respectable run especially these days. I think &Juliet is probably next to close given the fact that they’ve been doing around 800k a week.

I was told that they're waiting until fall because Jordan Donica is filming the newest season of The Gilded Age throughout the spring.

Yankees has smart producers they are not going to come in last second or take a limited run. Those are death for musicals.

Correct. I wish it would come sooner but I think it will be more successful in the Fall.
