On the plus side, Roxy gets to sit shiva for another flop. He lives for it.
He's not sure why it didn't catch on, the critics had it in for it, he doesn't know why Wicked is a hit or The Lion King is a hit and this is a flop but such is life that's showbiz kiddies he no longer cares or urges people to see things he used to but not anymore, no siree. Not invested.
I'll give Philly this: He was really hopeful for this show. I think we can all say we've experienced the same thing with a show that ended up flopping miserably. (My experience being Ghost.)

FishermanBob, ha that may just happen!! lol Bridges (another JRB musical flop?!) is launching their national tour in Des Moines, IA in Nov!!!! JRB even had a special message during the Des Moines Performing Arts 2015-2016 season announcement!!
Sutton Ross-just because a composer has had a show (or shows) up on Broadway, doesn't mean that they are rich. I'm sure that JRB had to give up royalties to keep the show running. It's a shame -- he's a great writer. It must be so frustrating to put your work out there, have the critics validate it, but not be able to get people to buy tickets.
Finally, sad but it should have closed in January as it never caught on with tourists or anyone in general and yes I enjoyed it...thought it was a fun show! What a bunch of moronic first time producers keeping it open so long...at this point, really thought they would at least wait out for Tony nominations 4 weeks away since they kept it open this long but the funds just ran out! Anyway, next show? I had heard Hunchback wanted the Nederlander but not sure what is happening after the Paper Mill run that also closes on Sunday as the buzz has died down a bit on this show.

Theres a slough of new shows trying to come in. Hunchback is a good guess. Or maybe that revival of Forum that was initially supposed to take the Nederlander before James Corden dropped out? Is that still happening?

^Agree, stick it in one of the theaters in Vegas...make some cuts 45 minutes...shorten Overture-Entr'acte, shorten those songs that go on for ever + CUT Every Day is Happy > Friki-Friki and especially the book scenes in Hawaii trimming it down to around 90 minutes no intermission and it could work there with Danza!

haha yeah i meant slew. Does anyone think the closing of this show will greatly hurt its chances at being nominated? Even though its a great show, and would probably do well on the road
It's not among JRB's best scores, I can't imagine him winning a Tony for it. His win last year was truly deserved. What are the other new scores this year? It's slim pickings. The Visit, Fun Home, Something Rotten, Finding Neverland, Dr. Z and It Shoulda Been You! and I imagine the first three will be nominated for score.
