I have tickets for Friday and I’m SO EXCITED to see Jewelle as Persephone! I’m also excited to see Patrick Page - I’ve only seen the show with Tom Hewitt.
Went to Wednesday 11/10/21 Matinee and there was an understudy for one of the fates and Persephone (I believe it was this Lana character). My question is, how would this show go on without Patrick Page and Reeve Carney? If I saw it with them being replaced by an understudy I'd be sorely disappointed, their skill sets are so unique and fit these roles so nicely. I may be naive, however.
I saw it with Tom Hewitt and I thought he was wonderful! I haven’t seen Patrick Page and while I wish I could have, I don’t feel that I really missed out. Same with Amber since I saw Lana. However I am bigger fans of Eva and Reeve and would have felt I missed out not seeing them. Also I personally don’t think the show would have been the same without Andre de Shields but a lot here like his understudy better!
Reeve Carney is the exact reason we’re so excited to see the show again on Saturday 11-20 matinee as our first visit back to a Bway theater in 2 years. We thought he was miraculous in the part and elevated the whole show to another level. Please oh please tell me if anyone knows a reason he won’t be performing that day. 😃
I haven't read this whole thread, so my apologies if this has already been answered, but does Amber Gray do Saturday night shows? I'm going next Saturday, and would love to see her again.

She’s been out of the show for the past month and returning this Saturday. An alternate has been announced for her but the alternate’s schedule hasn’t been announced yet. So it’s like a surprise on who you get!
I can understand liking his performance (I happen to like it a lot) but I’m sure the show will go on just fine whenever Reeve moves on.
Made it to Boston yesterday afternoon and saw the show last night for Will Man’s debut as Hermes. He was excellent. Great voice and an excellent mover, which is not what one expects when you look at someone of his size. Only had one small line flub, but you’d have to really know the show to recognize it. He had some really great moments throughout but the one that will stick with me - after the final “we’re going to sing it again” he took a breath as if he was about to start it all over again right there. Really impactful. Can’t wait to see more of him. The tour in general is great. I like how they restaged it but the lift just works so much better. I also didn’t realize that the drummer isn’t placed elsewhere on stage; instead they play from offstage but gets to come out for the exit music. Overall a good cast but Kimberly is an excellent Persephone - she’s now my favorite, and DAMN Kevyn is a GREAT Hades!!
Oh wow! I’m shocked Afra is leaving! I thought she’d be a Hadestown lifer but I’m happy she has new work coming up! Excited to see her new project(s). She was my favorite Persephone!

I just think Reeve and Patrick are polar opposites in singing styles that they both seem perfect for the roles. Also, is it common that actors also can play guitar on stage? Since he's got his own band and whatnot, he seems pretty tailor made.
Website hasn’t been updated in a while: Anthony Chatmon, John Krause, Tom Hewitt, and Afra Hines are still listed (I know, she just announced yesterday but she was removed next day when she went on maternity leave). I wonder if the website will go through a major update once Amber returns tomorrow.

Does it? It was packed with a very enthusiastic audience when I went in NYC last week and I tried to get tickets to the tour in Texas and it was pretty much sold out (for the weekend) except for single seats. Or do you mean the cast and understudies…..

Although I cannot answer your question directly, it made me go back through my Playbills. I’ve seen the show 13 times- 9 of those shows had understudies. My first show was May 2019 and I’ve only seen the OBC once (prior to Ahmad Simmons leaving in September 2019). I’m not complaining because I love understudies but this show does have a bad attendance record.

Ohh what was the line flub? I’m just curious! But glad to hear he did wonderful!! The more I learn about the tour cast the more I want to see all of them perform (like I did with the Broadway cast). Kimberly really does shine in that role!

I just saw tonight's show (Sat 11/13, 8pm) and Lana was in. She was amazing, but I've been waiting years to hear Amber's voice in real life and thought tonight was as close to a sure bet as any night would be. Goes to show you never can tell.

I'm seeing the show again this coming Saturday night, and I thought a Saturday night show would be a sure thing too for catching Amber Gray... Guess I will have to wait and see who I get!

Lana posted on her IG stories yesterday that she "suddenly" had to go on so its possible it was an emergency cover. Amber doesn't use social media though. I'm sure if something really really really really awful was going on with her we'd know in some way (maybe not), so it's possible there was just a scheduling conflict. Like, maybe Amber is out to film another project and she had to come back to set last minute? I don't know, take all of that with a grain of salt, but it's clear that Lana was not originally supposed to go on and since I have no idea what Amber is up to, all I can do is hope/assume that she had to do something last minute with something else she's working on, and that she's ok otherwise.
Today Lana posted "last one of the week" in her Persephone costume, but I don't think it means much - it's Sunday. Of course it's the last one of the week.....Though I guess some people call Sunday the first day of the week, but in that case she'd probably say something like "only one of the week"? Ha, I know I'm just overthinking and getting into semantics now lol. I am curious about it though.
Also, I'm pretty sure Khaila Wilcoxon is no longer a swing and has been promoted to full-time Worker and u/s Eurydice (though she must still u/s a Fate too because I know she went on as a Fate earlier this week). But whenever she's on as a Worker there is no board indicating that "The role of Worker will be played by Khaila Wilcoxon", whereas it used to do that in the past - she's been on very steadily. Also, Trent Saunders replaced John Krause and he's very adorable. I hope to catch him as Orpheus or Hermes (I think an earlier post said he understudies both) some day.
