Success! Thank you guys for all of the advice here. I went on Friday. I was crazy and showed up at 6:30 am with a chair and layers. I was first. The next three people arrived at 9, then 9:30, then 3 respectively. I waited almost 12 hours. Luckily for me, one of the lottery winners forgot their photo ID, so they sold me the last two lottery tickets around 6:20 for $10 each. WOOOHOOO. Worth it! I believe that at least the two people behind me got tickets, but I am not sure beyond that. Chemical hand warmers are your friend! I had them on my feat and hands the whole time, and it made my life so much better.

I have an ethics question for you guys. I had a lot of fun hanging out with the people in line. We chatted almost the whole time. We also took turns holding each others places so everyone could run to the Marriott for bathroom breaks or coffee as needed. One person ended up leaving and coming back a few hours later and assumed the same place in line. I don't think anyone had agreed to hold the place that long, but then again, no one raised a stink about it. Since I was first it didn't harm me, and the person did end up waiting at least 6 hours in line all told. I felt weird about it though. Should I have said something though? Is this an OK thing that happens frequently.

So how have wednesday matinees been? Im going to try over the next couple of weeks. Do I have a better or worse chance in getting a wednesday matinee ticket as opposed to the other days? I have been hearing mixed things. I figure to try to get there by 7AM. Hoping for the best :)

I understand the dilemma about feeling okay saying something but in that case absolutely! Someone leaving for a short time to go to the bathroom or get food quickly is one thing, but if they are gone more than 15-20 minutes then i do not think that is fair. I am a crazy line person, I hate cutters and don't believe in holding a place, even if it is for someone behind me.If you are gone that long you have given up your place in line. I am actually surprised because when i did cancellation line the first time around the guy who is responsible for keeping an eye on it was very serious about it and wouldnt let people leave even for a moment to enter the lotto unless they had someone fill in as a place holder. It did not seem to be as intense when I did the line a couple weeks ago but they were still keeping an eye.. I also got very chatty with the people I spent the day with but if one had disappeared for too long I would have said something because I hate messing with line karma even if it doesn't affect me since I was first in line, but it did take me a while to get enough courage to say things to people in circumstances like this. Hopefully you don't encounter something like that again!

The lady who was working in the box office the day I was there told me that people were being rude, loud, and leaving trash. The final straw, as she said, was that in the week prior to Christmas there was a physical fight so management decided to move the line outside. When we were there however they were allowing us to come inside 1 or 2 at a time for a few minutes to warm up. They just told us to be quiet which we did because we didn't want to mess it up lol we were all freezing lol

Wait, there is no lotto now?

What a shame that some people have messed up that hard that now everyone has to wait outside. Besides that, I assume that the front row tickets aren't sold for the regular $10 price?

I can't speak to the conditions outside the theatre. But as to the unused lotto tickets, when they had the digital lotto fiasco the front row tickets were given to people with standing room tickets.

Cancellation line luck today, Tuesday, 1/26/16. Got in line at about 10:30 am and there were four people ahead of me for a total of five tickets. After about an hour, two people ahead of me (three tickets) decided to leave to try their luck with resale, leaving a total of six people in line (9 tickets). Two of the parties in line had flown in for Saturday's canceled performances and were leaving tomorrow to go back to LA and San Diego, respectively. At noon, a gentleman came out and said they had two premium tickets and two tickets for tomorrow's matinee. The people ahead of me didn't want the premium tix so I took them and the other person in line behind me who lives locally took tomorrow's matinee tix. We walked back by the cancellation line a half hour later and everyone was gone. A good sign, I hope, for the out of towners who were canceled on Saturday. We walked by again around 3:30 pm and there was no one on the cancellation line. Not sure if that had anything to do with today's lottery cancellation or not.

Is there a limit to how many tickets you can buy on the cancellation line? I'm hoping to get 3.

Our issue is that there is an odd number of us and my understanding is that each person can only buy two tickets. We can get there early or another possibility is to hire a line sitter but again - the odd number of us requires two line sitters. Let me know if you may want to team up. We are determined to gwt there early though we don't know what that means yet. I'll do whatever it takes.

I would think Pre-Paying with PayPal would be a better option (the sitter can transfer the money to his/her bank) that way there is a record of the transaction (put Hamilton tickets in the subject line).

Remember, you can turn down premium tickets without losing your place in line

Thank you Tamra. I have never done a cancellation line before. Its good to know that my instincts were correct, and people were abusing the line. They were so casual about it! Net time I will not hesitate to speak up.
