This is so sweet and your daughter's pure happiness over those seats made me want to cry. What an awesome mom you are and what a memory for your daughter I'm sure she will never forget.

Andrew, are you all set for a line buddy for Weds show or still looking? I sent you a PM.
Or if anyone else is interested in a single ticket and partnering up for Tuesday into Wednesday, PM me :)

Thanks for the advice! If I get there Tuesday afternoon by 5ish do you all think that will be early enough to get into the Wednesday night show? I'm worried about having to stay another night for Thursday I don't get in...
"
There is no day we can tell you to is definitely the best to go. Yesterday a lot of tickets for the matinee and evening performance was available and Thursday A LOT of tickets were available. People on both Thur and Sat go there at 3 pm and got in. However people on Monday waited to Wed to get in. Next week it could be totally reversed.
You do have two chances to see the show that day but if there is a live Ham4Ham then you have zero chance of getting standing room or unclaimed lottery tickets so really I would just pick a day that works best for you and plan to wait at least 24 hours. Have a buddy so you can take breaks without worrying about your spot in line.
I was really worried about going memorial day weekend but it wasn't as crazy as I thought. Friday night show probably had the least amount of tickets offered compared to Sat and Sun but women who arrived at midnight the night before got in at least.
I would totally recommend doing it! Honestly and completely worth the wait.

Anybody go by the line yet today? Wanted to see if it has started. Last Monday was huge! Almost 20 by midnight.

Wow! My husband and I watched this video just now and laughed and pointed at stuff saying "I recognize that scaffolding!" It was a great video! You were probably born to do this for your daughter because you seem to have a very serene personality. My life would never allow me to dedicate 50 hours to a line. Applause and curtain call to you.
My mom took me and my sis and waited about 12 hours in line in a cold November of 1983 for Menudo concert tickets at Radio City Music Hall. We were nowhere near the front of the line but the wait got us second row center. I'm 45 now, I still have my stub for that concert $18.00!, I still have the memories of the hours in the cold in the line and the memories of seeing Menudo so close. Last summer, I paid her back. Mom at 75 I got her 3rd row to the Menudo reunion concert at The Beacon theater where we watched together and sang their songs in total nostalgia! I'm am sure your little one will repay you for this when she is grow in many ways. God Bless!
I was taken back by what looked like a mess of belongings on the line. Peoples stuff laying all over the place, like a a picnic at the great lawn. It would be nice to keep things more tidy and not have the theater look like a Salvation Army store exploded, LOL! I know it's tough to be out in the street for hours. When I did the line in March, our group of folks kept everything contained and there were minimal belongings on the line.
So glad you made her dream come true!

Loved the video! You seem like an awesome mom! And as a Gator fan, well at least you aren't a Bama fan

Awesome video! I take for granted the fact that I live in NYC and that I already know what the Hamilton cancellation line is like. Your video will give a perspective to those who will be travelling here and want to experience the line someday.
Now I wish I took a video of my experiences as well during the fall/winter/spring. I mean it was FREEZING back then. hehe. Congrats again!

Yes it was a mess. Particularly the first day. Day 2 was better. I felt my mom genes kicking in and doing alot of picking up. I was surprised the theater didn't say something it was bugging me.

Thanks super mom. I love how you captured the exhaustion and delights of the line. I'm so glad you and your daughter got in.

Didn't realize we looked so rough! I was in the cancellation line from 5:40pm on Saturday evening until the Sunday evening show. There were only about 8 people who stayed overnight and the line grew in the morning. We were 3rd and 4th in line, behind a line sitter that had been there since 5:30am Saturday morning (who only wanted premium for the matinee) and someone who got there at 3:30pm.
The matinee show released 4 premium tickets, 13 orchestra seats, 2 standing room seats. We passed on those, holding out to see Lin in the evening show.
It wasn't as bad to stay all night as I expected. The Mariott being so close is super helpful for bathroom and phone charging purposes and the pizza place across the street sells big bottles of water for only $3.
The line pretty much self-governed as far as rules are concerned. We knew who was there for what tickets and maintained order. At one point shortly before matinee tickets were released, some official-looking gentleman wearing tan tried to split the line, which we refused. One of the fabulous people in line consulted with the woman in charge and she confirmed that it should only be one line.
The evening show had 6 premium tickets which made everyone feel really optimistic, and we weren't let down. By then, we were 2nd and 3rd in line. They released the tickets around 10 minutes before the show started. All of the lottery seats must have been claimed because no front row was given out. I don't know how many tickets were given out (I know at least 11 for sure, possibly more) but the last person that got a ticket didn't arrive until around 3pm on Sunday.
I think the holiday really worked in our favor! We came up from out of state, and had packed to stay until Tuesday after seeing all the crazy waits recently. Glad that we got exactly what we wanted!

Row F, seats 103 and 104 I believe. Almost center, directly two rows behind someone who paid for premium. I thought our seats were amazing. Plus, we were only two rows and two seats away from Jeff Daniels!

does anyone know the current status of the line? how many people are in for tonight/tomorrow and what time did they get there?

Would anyone be so kind as to post a basic checklist of necessities for those of us willing to wait overnight?

Also, I see stories of people getting here very early the night before for a show the next day, but no one ever talks about the stage door. Say someone gets in line at 10pm, couldn't they stage door for the show that night? I guess that's for another board but still, I find it weird that no one ever mentions it. Do people just not do it or do they just exclude it from their stories? Or is it because it's rude since they didn't watch that show? I get that singles can't give up their spots, but what about doubles? haha, sorry for so many questions but I'm just very intrigued.

Just as long as you allow the people who saw the show that night to also get autographs/pictures, I really do not see a problem stage dooring a different night. When I saw Hamilton on April 18th (the date it won the Pulitzer Prize), I waited by the stage door for a half hour and the people visiting the actors backstage hadn't even been let in yet so I left. I am probably going to see Blackbird next week, and since that is an hour and a half I plan on stage dooring Hamilton after that and getting to meet as many actors that come out. Go with your gut on it.

For a checklist of things to bring, I would suggest something comfortable to sit on (we got seat cushions made for driving at Walmart for $10 and then just threw them away before the show so we didn't have to worry about carrying them), snacks, baby wipes, deodorant, portable phone charger, aspirin, and maybe a sheet or a yoga mat to sleep on.
We got there at 5:30 pm on Saturday for the Sunday night show. My wife and I did stage door a bit, she got Chris Jackson's signature and we saw lots of the other actors come out. I don't think it's impossible for a single to do it either. If you're there for the night, at least in my experience, people were pretty understanding and know that you're going to need to go to the bathroom and get food at some point. It's just not possible to stay in line the entire time, so if you're in line and you want to go to the door, people around you are usually pretty accommodating.

Does anyone know if chairs are, once again, allowed in the cancellation line? We noticed after the show on Saturday night, a (folding/camping) chair in the line. At noon time the next day, just before we left the city, someone was sitting on the chair in the line (right side of the theater).
It would be GREAT if they've lifted the ban on chairs. They're more comfy to sleep in during the night, and it makes the place look more orderly. I don't think taking chairs away made a difference in the number of people lining up or the length of time people were willing to wait.
I was walking home a little while ago and passed by the theater and saw some folding chairs and other "camping" like stuff (or so it looked), and I was confused because I thought they'd banned that.

I hope they either lift the rule about chairs or start enforcing it, because stuff like that isn't fair to people who follow the rules. I'll be doing the cancellation line soon, and unless I'm told the rules have been changed otherwise, I won't be bringing a chair because I don't want to risk getting kicked out of line. But if others have chairs and nothing is said to them, that's quite unfair (not their fault though, but the theater's) that they're getting to be more comfortable even though it's against the rules.

When they rolled out all the additional rules, did they enforce any of them?
Stand-by Joined: 3/7/16
As far as I know, they have been enforcing the rule regarding the person buying the tickets having to use one of them and go in the theater immediately after purchase (with the exception of premium tickets, since there's no way to enforce it for those). Otherwise the line is very self-policed. For instance, "no swapping/saving places" is now a rule, but really I think it's at the discretion of who you're in line with, and they'll probably say something to the theater if it gets to be too much. It's likely the same with the chair situation.

The person you saw in a chair Saturday night and Sunday was someone with a disability. She had a cane and was not able to sit on the ground. Legally, they can't make her sit on the ground, but they did enforce the rule of no chairs.
