Hoping someone is able to help me or provide advice!
I'm from Australia, (hopefully) coming over to see the show on 23 December.
When I bought the tickets, I bought 4 (my sister and her boyfriend were meant to be joining my girlfriend and I). Immediately after buying the tickets, my sister realised she'd given me the wrong dates, and wasn't going to be able to make it.
As such, I now have 2 spare, Dress Circle tickets to parts 1 & 2. I've got in touch with Ticketmaster, who will only accept a return of the 4 tickets together, and can't reissue just two of them straight back to me.
Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to sell these?
I've tried Craigslist, which requires a US phone number to sign up, StubHub and other ticket reselling sites need a US credit card and billing address.
Tickets were $140USD each ($580 + booking fees total), and I'm only looking to recover the face value of the tickets, I'm not interested in scalping them for outrageous prices or anything like that.
If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated!
I'm afraid I don't have any helpful advice, just wanted to offer some more intel on return policy procedures, since the Ticketmaster and Harry Potter website make it sound so easy...
I have been buying tickets for my mom's birthday. I'm buying all the way out in December, which means there are actually a fair amount of options, particularly since I've been doing some strategic single seat purchases. My mom is quite tall and has some issues with restless leg syndrome due to chemotherapy years ago, so she really needs an aisle seat, and I'm not sure how much she'll want to do everything in one day, so I've been strategically buying tickets so that she'll have a few options. I bought the first pair in the first wave of general ticket sales, and since then have just been looking for other options, pairs and singles, each day.
The other day I found a good Thurs/Fri aisle option, but after finding the second seat, a better option came up and I bought that one as well, which brought my total to 6, with 3 tickets on one full performance and 1 ticket on another (+ my original pair). An aisle ticket came up on the 1 ticket performance, and so I wanted to return the worst of the 3 tickets and then get the aisle on the 1 ticket performance.
The return itself was actually quite easy - I did via live chat at like 11:30 at night, and about 36 hours later a full refund showed up on my card (fees and all, for those who were wondering about that!). Once I saw the refund and the ticket showed as returned on my account, I went to go buy the aisle ticket (still there!), and it was still telling me that I had maxed out my tickets.
I emailed Ticketmaster and they responded that "one of the conditions of returning your ticket came with the understanding that you will not be able renew your code". Now, before I started this crazy odyssey of buying a bunch of tickets of which I would return the majority, I read every single piece of information I could find on either website about the return policy, and the only limitations seemed to be timing of the return and that it could be at "box office discretion", but nowhere did it say that you wouldn't regain the ability to buy a different ticket when you return one. I've asked Ticketmaster to show me where this policy is, and if they can't demonstrate it, to tell me how to contest it, but I'm guessing that won't be successful (which is fine - I will still have a all-in-one-day vs two-consecutive-nights with aisle seats to offer my mom - just annoying).
At any rate, wanted to let anyone else who might have been hoping to return some tickets and get some new ones know that the 6 ticket cap may be applied in a very, VERY strict manner. (And if you can find the "no code renewal" policy, I'd love to see it!!).

Since you no longer need a code why not just set up a new TM account using a different email address and maybe credit card. Wouldnt thaf work? It's a public sale now so it seems reasonable and legit

I actually thought about that, but what really doesn't make sense is that I *did* buy these tickets during the public sale - I was never lucky enough to get an access code. So this may apply to ALL ticket sales. (though I have like 6 email addresses and another credit card so I will totally be trying this...)
ETA: they are using something other than Ticketmaster account or credit card number to track number of tickets purchased. I created a new Ticketmaster account with a different email address and a credit card number that isn't on my other Ticketmaster account, and it gave me the same "you have already bought your limit" error. Obviously my name, billing address, and phone number were still the same, so maybe that's it? Not sure what else it could be - I purchased the first pair of tickets in a different location, so it can't be IP address...

I bought six total on two accounts and have returned four so perhaps I may as well stop looking for better seats since it may not let me buy anyway! Since you are returning tickets rather than selling them for profit we won't be mad if you find a work around! They've made us so crazy with this whole process - if you aren't doing anything to profit they ought to cut you a break.

Ooooh, now I really want you to try to buy another ticket to see if it lets you!!!! What's the worst that could happen? Just another ticket to return
And I'm pretty staunchly opposed to profiting from resold tickets, plus I got to see the London production because someone returned their tickets at the last minute (and some blessed college student studying abroad only wanted one ticket too), so I'm paying it forward!!! (I was at a conference in Amsterdam, had tried to buy tickets outright, played the Friday Forty, and finally just randomly checked for tickets 3 days before the ONLY day I could make it, and THERE IT WAS. I think I paid less for the flight to London + hotel + ticket in the VERRRRRY last row of the theatre than I did for ONE of the NYC tickets

I would try but I'm scared they won't let me return it if I exceed the limit! I already returned 4 to TM and have the 2 I'll be using. I don't trust TM enough to refund ticket 7 even if it lets me buy it - who knows with all their "unwritten rules"
If all else fails, ask a friend to buy it for you and write them a check! Good luck!
Actually now that you've brought this up we probably ought to all consider the possibility that TM could cancel any tickets over 6 if they are combining similar appearing accounts (husband and wife, etc). I'm sure many of us used more than one especially during the presales. So i don't want to risk looking for different seats now - I'm keeping what I have and will be grateful!! It never occurred to me that if I returned tickets to TM they'd still count toward my purchase limit.
Maybe this is another reason to ask a friend to purchase any additional tickets for you. If it's a friend at least you can trust them to transfer once that feature becomes available (I think 48 hours before the performance).
Yeah, I'm happy enough with the two full pairs I have (it gives my mom the option of same day vs consecutive nights, and the seats are essentially identical), but I will be interested to see how Ticketmaster responds to my request for evidence of this "understanding" I supposedly had when returning my ticket...
I will say that the pair I have that is two seats next to each other is ONE seat away from the aisle (thanks a lot, new seating charts...), so if anyone out there reading this has ORCHL Row M seat 33 for 12/1/18 and wants to sit TWO seats closer to center, I'm happy to make that happen day of

Sometimes Ticketmaster really drives me nuts. This is a prime example. I have three tickets for August and we've recently found out that my father may not be able to attend. If he can't, we'll know about a month before. I was guessing I'd run into trouble trying to return one ticket (out of the three) and it looks like I was right. That's super frustrating because I'll probably have to end up putting that ticket on Stubhub or something. Even if I list it for exactly what I paid, they'll tack on crazy fees for whoever buys it.
As for finding another pair and returning the entire order of three, I already was screwed over during the buying process and ended up with two sets of three tickets (because of getting error messages and not knowing orders were actually going through). I returned the extra set of tickets already. If those count though, then I've already hit my cap of six.
managed to get orchestra v for $165 aisle seats (two) for a saturday show in JUNE. should I be looking for better seats (ie: cheaper/same price category) or are these reasonably priced? does seem like a few people got a bargain at $40 orchestra. seems like the pricing is all over the place so hard to tell if I should keep trying :)
For those of you that so kindly checking dates and seats, if you happen to come across a single center aisle seat in the orchestra for any date that is $199 or below, would please let me know? I know it is like finding a 4 leaf clover, but ya never know!
I don't think there will be any center orchestra at that price. The only $199 tix are all the way to the left or right I believe... The center ones were $299.
