Loading in after Mamma Mia according to Sweaty Oracle.
Now that would make my spring!
P.S. - He’s also claiming that the Lloyd Evita is landing there in 2027.
Uhh, what about Death of Salesman?
The Winter Garden becoming a play house wasn't really on my Bingo card.
I mean, the design looks like it would be a better fit than Salesman…but if Lane and Metcalf seem unlikely to sell out the WG in THEEE American play, I doubt a British transfer of updated Shakespeare would either.
Regardless - the play categories are already stacked this year, so bringing this over seems remarkably foolish.
I wish we could’ve left The Sudiferous One in 2026.

And once again the Rancid Nutsack has it wrong.
As the S.O. said, it is allegedly playing the WG after SALESMAN and before EVITA — not immediately after Mamma Mia.
If you’re gonna share his rumors, at least get what he says right!
It’s also Atwell, not Atwater.

Don’t forget Wolf Hall back in 2015! Although that only ran at ~60% capacity on average which is rough for any show.

So this would start in July at the earliest, run through the fall or winter and Evita would likely come in the spring.

If they were to do this - could almost announce both at the same time and make it a Jamie Loyd season kind of thing or branding.
Winter Garden is away from the core of Times Square but would the balcony scene still work ?
I don’t recall the Winter Garden having any kind of exterior balcony. It used to have a kind of cupola on the roof many years ago, but it’s long gone.
Edit: actually, before there was the big billboard marquee, there was a railing in front of the roof. That could work.
The roof railing back when School of Rock was there.
The 7th Ave side has both roof access (with a decorative railing) and one of those cage-like balcony things (there's probably a word for it).
Alternatively they could also do it on the Broadway side with the crowd restricted to the Paramount Plaza outdoor space + wide sidewalk. Which would eliminate the need to block off the street 8x a week for an hour, but would be hellish for people working or dining there.
Though it will never be as attractive as the London production, they can probably get permission for something temporary and balcony-like related to the show. Like when WOODS had the legs on the Martin Beck and the Broadhurst. They could also be creative with the billboard design to look more like a piece of the set if it's on the Broadway side (though I wonder what's behind the billboard?). There may be costs and bureaucracy involved but likely would not violate historic preservation.

YES..... This just simply demands that you'll only be able to see it would be from across the street, and it's high enough so that traffic would not be affected
Does it matter that this is a Shubert house and not an ATG house?

Well ATG productions have gone into Shubert houses just look at Operation Mincemeat (currently at the Golden) and just recently we had Art at the Music Box
Ah, yes. Forgot about “Mincemeat”.
Jamie Lloyd Company is no longer owned by ATG as of two years ago.
In London EVITA was lead-produced by Michael Harrison & ALW and JLC –– not by ATG.
Mincemeat is not produced by ATG.
Thanks for posting that, I honestly don’t know that I ever knew that

Salesman is a 14 week run beginning in March which means it’s out by mid-June, barring any extensions.
I think the earliest that we’d see Much Ado would be August (but I suspect it’ll be September to coincide with the fall season). Guessing it will be a limited 12-16 week run as well, closing out the year.
Just off topic since some one mentioned Wolf Hall, that was such a spectacular afternoon and evening of theatre.
Do we think they just ditch the act 2 opening of Evita all together? I just feel like it's been done and probably is unmatched compared to anything they could pull off in London.

I can say with 1000% certainty this is not happening how it is being “reported”

Absolutely not.
It's kind of the whole reason to do the production.
How much pink confetti can the Winter Garden hold? Cuz it's a lot

Well the Winter Garden stage is pretty wide so I’m guessing that I think it can definitely hold a lot
