I know he’s wanted to do Tevye for a long time (and did a bit of Tevye in Jerome Robbins Broadway) but I’m in no rush to see another revival of it, especially not one directed by Lonny Price. Maybe a concert version without Broadway aspirations?
This sounds like it would be done at a regional house in Los Angeles. That would be a wonderful thing for Los Angeles, and I think it would be wonderful to see the original production recreated, which is what Alexander hints might be the objective in his revisiting the show. Alexander sort of previously played Tevye 30 years ago when he did the part in the Fiddler segment in Jerome Robbin's Broadway, for which he won a Tony award.

Good thing they’re planning to do this production in LA.
Give this musical a break. The last revival was less than 10 years ago, we also had Fiddler in Yiddish, and the tour. Maybe some new ideas for a change??
I disliked Danny Burstein in this-he wasn’t strong enough-too much of a teddy bear and I’m afraid Jason would have the same affect on me. I never believed the villagers would see Danny as their leader.

To put it mildly."
TOO MUCH FIDDLER!! I love the show but goodness give it a break
Did anyone see Jason Alexander perform as Tevye in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the La Mirada theatre in LA? Previews started this past Friday. I've listened to Jason's interviews and he stated how he had always wanted to perform this role but thought he may have 'aged out' so I'm happy he has this opportunity!

Taking Yiddish Fiddler to Broadway without Steven Skybell would feel kind of evil at this point. Plus Jason Alexander, or any other celebrity would need to actually learn the lines in Yiddish. Doable but a heavier lift.
But generally speaking Yiddish Fiddler is the new bar for me. If it isn't that or an equally inspired re-conception, yet another staging of Fiddler on the Roof is nothing to get excited about.
I just read this article from the LA Times and this regional production already recouped! Very happy for them and I hope those in LA can get to watch this production.
I'm not surprised given the prices for the production. We considered buying tickets as we will be in the area for Thanksgiving - and decided the ticket prices were too high.
