According to the BWW article headline, it is eyeing a June 2026 opening. I suspect that will get fixed.

As Jordan beat me to it, I'll delete most of this - and he has a proper link anyway.

It's not clear from this report, which mentions the revival only briefly, if it's simply being delayed or dropped altogether. The three paragraphs are somewhat contradictory. But it sounds like a June 2027 opening is definitely not happening.

I wonder, without Grande, whether this project is going to happen at all. With all due respect to Jonathan Bailey, her star power was going to be the driving force behind ticket sales.

Really disappointed but unfortunately not very surprised. Sincerely hope she is okay, and would love to see her take this role on in the future. I thought it was quite inspired casting, really.

Am I the only one who thinks that Bailey could sell the show, especially if you can get a decent secondary name alongside him? Not sure who that might be, obviously not anyone on Ariana’s level of star power, but if it’s a great production I’d imagine Bailey + positive word of mouth is enough.

Yeah, he's not the kind of massive A-list name you need to sell a Sondheim revival in London like Rosalie Craig, Mark Umbers, or Jamie Parker. /s

They could absolutely go ahead with this and sell it out if they are so inclined. No idea if that's where their head is though.

At least this happened before hard dates were announced and tickets went on sale, disappointing as it is.

Hopefully the production moves forward with another lead. Particularly in the West End, Bailey plus a comparable name would still be a big draw.
