I wouldn't be surprised if she just doesn't come back . Covid can have lingering effects and can take a long time to fully heal. I know of someone who took 8 months and still isn't up to par
I was thinking that as well. Great excuse to bow out gracefully. I couldn't help but wonder how she was handling the feedback she must be getting about Julie, especially in light of her own reviews. Not an enviable position.
"
Do you think that’s truly a possibility??"
No, but it would be nice. However troubled the storyline might be - the show is better without her IMO. I don't even have to see Julie (sad about that), but I've seen her in other videos and heard her sing the songs from the show that were bootlegged and posted on FB and Twitter. That and the comments I've read here. I've been hoping from the first preview that Beanie would bow out gracefully. I recall suggesting she have a broken toe or something minor. I have no desire for her to be actually ill or injured. Just to use it as an excuse. TBH I thought she would bow out after the recent 2nd missed matinee, but then they came out with that promotional video. So the team doubleddown and she returned only to test positive for Covid. Someone else suggested she might leave in September. I'm guessing sooner, maybe not next week. Her birthday is coming up, so I think she would want to be performing around that time. So maybe mid-July?
I saw Feldstein last Wednesday and though I’m not a fan of her characterization, nothing about the performance felt tentative or insecure. And she was cheered. There’s no reason to presume she will exit the production any sooner because of a Covid status that briefly felled Jackman, LuPone, Craig and scores of others. She’ll rebound as they did and the production will continue. All of this speculation is just that.

And we will just continue speculating...because it's fun and beats a lot of the other stuff we are dealing with in our everyday lives. Actually a lot of the fun might go out of it if Beanie did leave.
I caught the evening show tonight and I can’t say enough good things about Benko. An absolute star turn. The vocals! The stage presence! If you have a chance to catch her, do it.
Hunter: Your teeth need whitening./ Heidi: You sound weird./ Jeff: You taste funny.

Many theater performers have, within the past few months, come down with Covid. They've all returned to their shows without any issues. But you keep stoking that fear. Like most people who've tested positive in recent weeks, she probably doesn't even have symptoms beyond those of a cold or mild flu.
Had to laugh, Ramin was on Twitter reporting on the United Fighting Championships - did his job, went back to his apartment and chilled out. Which was kind of a Nicky Arnstein thing to do - especially if he had money on the fighters. Life goes on.
You likely know by now that Beanie and Jane Lynch are leaving in September. You nailed it. And having seen Julie Benko's debut performance as Fanny back in April, I can wholeheartedly agree that she is PERFECT for the role and should move into the top slot. Funny, warm, heartbreaking in her acting...glorious in her vocals: a true Broadway Star.

Anxious to see what the producers do."
Hold up. Feldstein and Lynch are leaving FUNNY GIRL? Link please.
Julie Benko @JujujulieBee Tested positive today. Bummed to be out of @FunnyGirlBwy for 10 days, obviously. My symptoms are very mild so far. I’m grateful for vaccines. Mask up and stay healthy, folks ❤️
Let's see if Beanie can handle not missing any peformances for the next 2 weeks!

Yet to be revealed is whether Julie Benko will be an official alternate and cover two shows a week.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I have one spot open on my trip coming up. I've read the glowing reviews for Julie, and I saw the show during previews with Beanie. I'm really wondering if it is worth it to see the show again with a stronger singer.
Legendary Barbra impressionist Steven Brinberg has invited me to sing a couple songs with him at his show “Simply Barbra” this Monday 7/18 at Chelsea Table + Stage at 7PM. Come join us!

Her next six weeks are out of 42ndStreet. Having seen Feldstein, I’ve decided to return to see this heroic young actor. As many opine, the show will undoubtedly land on TDF in August.

Counting today, how many shows has Julie Benko done as Fanny Brice?
