So glad to see all the Julie Benko love here! I saw her performance back in May and she was stupendous. A triumph in every way. I love the idea of a couple of bonus tracks on the cast album that it is said that Lea Michelle might do. Or even better a separate CD, like they did with Reba (Annie Get Your Gun) and more recently with Laura Benanti. Those are treasured CD-singles that compliment the full album. I am wondering if anyone knows the length of Lea's contract? 6 months? Open end? Or to get the show to a one year anniversary? I thought I read somewhere that tix were not on sale past March 2023. I might be wrong.
I saw a drawing of the Playbill program with a drawing of Julie in the red dress coming on stage for her curtain call. I was unable to copy it when I saw it and can't find it now. Wonder if anyone has seen it elsewhere.
Funny Girl on Broadway has a small video clip on the SeatGeek Facebook page......without AUDIO. Seriously, talk about being "chintzy"!
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Seems like this whole production has been seen as chintzy.
To seek revenge may lead to hell yet everyone does it but seldom as well......

Chintzy is the most perfect adjective to describe this production.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I wrote this in another thread without realizing this one existed. Caught Julie's performance Wednesday night, and she was truly outstanding. Carried the show with charisma, charm, and simply a jaw-dropping performance. She is worth the whole thing.

I thought he gave Arnstein lots of inherent charm and wrung as much depth and variation as possible. He sang beautifully, and his scenes with Benko really popped. Palpable chemistry between them, you could tell that they both had performed these roles often enough to feel completely at ease.
Random thought I had, but come September both Fannys will have played Wendla in the original incarnation (bway/touring) of Spring Awakening. Julie has been at this a while!!!
