What the heck is going on? Either rehearsals are a mess currently or there's illness going on throughout the cast.
They cancelled the first two previews and moved the opening night from a Wednesday to a Saturday.
This type of thing happens a few times each season.
Stuff happens.
Don't know what caused the delays, but the seating chart makes the staging look pretty intricate –– the kind of thing that will need to be finessed with an audience presence.
In-person rush will be $40.

According to a recent interview I watched on YouTube, Jonathan Groff said they are working toward a nightclub atmosphere - recreating the Copacabana. I suspect that hasn't been as easy to accomplish as they thought. Sounds like they are literally taking apart much of the orchestra section to insert tables for 8 or so. Then having a stage to work out the home/office/outdoor-type scenes. He also said the orchestra was going to be on stage.
You can see the configuration on Telecharge. I always love what Timbers does, so I'm excited to hear about this.
I don't know how substantial an overhaul of the theatre it is, per se, just an intricate setup.
Like LADY DAY, it's being done in 3/4 thrust instead of in the round.
There appear to be two "stages" and I bet there's some other playing spaces between the cabaret tables.
I'm excited to see Derek McLane's designs and Timbers' direction in the space.
I've heard from a friend working on it that the theatre will be unrecognizably glamorous, and that it'll be worth the wait - hope so!
Was just as the dress, if you are sitting at those tables, especially 11 and 5 you will be spit on! 😅

That’s all I wanted to hear. :)
Hope you had a blast!

How were the banquette seating?

I was 2nd row on the side section, the tables are excellent, you really are in the show. Expect to be literally inches away from the actors.

We're in 8, maybe I should bring ponchos

Get out!
I splurged on a table seat. Just checked-I’m at table 11. 😳
Can’t wait.
How was the show?

Oh you are in for quite the treat! That’s probably the best seat in the house.
Show was a lot of fun! Really enjoyed it. I’m a big fan of Bobby Darin’s music and Groff’s voice fits the material so well.

Thank you.
I am deceased. I haven’t been this excited for a show in ages.
Ok, I’m in the splash zone. Must bring concealer with me in case I need a touch up.
Last question, are they serving drinks? When we saw Lady Day, they gave us champagne. Are they doing anything like that? I don’t even drink-just wondering.

Haha, I love that visual up on stage. Have the best time!
A cast recording is confirmed. Let’s hope this also gets filmed like LADY DAY was.
What was the run time? Trying to figure out transportation home.

You may know this already, but just noting that LADY DAY was filmed on location in New Orleans, not on Broadway.

Indeed it was, at the glorious Café Brazil. Just hoping JUST IN TIME gets this treatment as well during its time at the Circle in the Square.

Yes it is! That has nothing to do with Just In Time or LD's choice to avoid Broadway union costs by filming offsite.

Just got tickets for my trip at the end of April. This was my one splurge, and got banquet seating. Whether or not this show is any good remains to be seen, but at least the songs are great and knowing Alex Timbers with a big budget this seems like something they will be going all out for.

Got it. Bring the splash zone ponchos from Teeth.

Aww… thanks! I will post my thoughts. Better wear that waterproof mascara. 😉
