I mean if they have a theatre lined up already than it seems like it's most likely going to to happen.... will be quite interesting to see if this actually sells or not
Wasn't Jason Robert Brown attached to this at one point?

Like I said in the other thread. If this doesn't have a giant ape singing a longing ballad of unrequited love then what are we even doing?

and closes by New Year's Day....
Any chance the Zhivago Table will be cast in this?
At least it will have an original score now...and not be a jukebox.
Should be an interesting season next year. Tinseltown will have most definitely taken over.

Yes, it's in the article: "In 2015, it had been announced that The Bridges of Madison County collaborators Jason Robert Brown (score) and Marsha Norman (book) had joined the team, but departed in 2016."
Jason Robert Brown talked about how this was a struggle to set to music. If JRB couldn't crack it, I don't have much confidence in this third string team.
I will say weirdly enough it should have a swing/big band score for the New York scenes, and then morph into a more tribal/folk score for Skull Island. Will this happen? Probably not, I am expecting a bland pop score that's only there because its easier to sell a musical then a play.
Why did they announce this so incredibly early? This technically becomes the first announced show of the 2018-2019 season and we haven't even hit the 2017 Tonys yet...

You mean aside from Once On This Island, Carousel, My Fair Lady, and Dream Girls??
Those are all 17-18 shows.
This is for the season following. We still have summer/fall/winter of 2017 and winter/spring of 2018.

I never knew that Miss Saigon was a Limited Engagement -- Nearly a year doesn't seem incredibly "limited".
I'm also surprised the theater would be willing to have the theater be dark for that long, unless they are planning extensive renovations specifically for the show.
Maybe they could use Jack Black's song from SNL.

Who says that Saigon will even make it until next January. It isn' exactly burning up the BO. This has the potential to be a flop of gigantic proportions. Have you seen the musicals that originate from Australia? Boy From Oz was ok and Hugh was great. But others were horrifyingly awful
For the folks wondering about point of pictures BrodyFosse123 posted - The Mambo Kings was supposedly announced for Broadway Theater for the 2005-06 season and pulled out seemingly a month before first Broadway preview. Article here.

producers could save a ****load of money by creating a 2 minute trailer for a show they want to get on broadway and run it by the members of the boards here.
