I wonder who is gonna replace Linda Lavin.
Can they get Angela Lansbury or will it be Elaine Stritch who would finally get a chance to perform her signature song in a Broadway show?

Sorry about the triple post. It did not seem to be taking when I posted it.
28 pieces in this day & age is immense. Thanks
A great show curtain would be a photo of the demolished Roxy

I have a feeling they will bump this up to September. It will fall flat if they try to open it in August. I say rehearse it in August with an opening immediately after Labor Day.

Elaine already performed her "signature song" in a Broadway show.

Since Jan Maxwell can't do it, according to the article, the producers had better be on the phone with Donna Murphy right now.

"Can they get Angela Lansbury or will it be Elaine Stritch who would finally get a chance to perform her signature song in a Broadway show?"
Stritch's signature song is "Ladies Who Lunch" from Company.
Both women are really too old to play Hattie. It needs to be someone closer to the age of Bernadette. Lansbury and Stritch are more the age of the woman in the wheelchair, the operetta pastiche.

The article doesn't state Jan Maxwell can't do it. Her commitment runs through July 31st.

The article says "Linda Lavin and Jan Maxwell have already been announced for other engagements." To me, that sounds like they can't do it.

With the hatchet job that Stritch does with "I'm Still Here" I bet Sondheim won't let her anywhere near the revival. She ruins the song everytime she tries to sing it. And she's already done "Broadway Baby" in the concert version, plus she's too old for those roles.

Write a part for her as Weissmans wife.

What? Jan Maxwell can't do the show? Well let me open my purse and help you with the production costs. What? you want me to take over in the role that Maxwell played? Why I never thought about it, but ok!

If Follies and Porgy & Bess are playing on Broadway simultaneously, I'll be buying a plane ticket for a much-overdue trip to NYC.

Oh Mr. Sondheim, I'd love to audition for the part of Stella.

From the NYT Article:
Casting is not set, but it’s fair to assume that the two stars of this “Follies” — Bernadette Peters as Sally Durant Plummer and Jan Maxwell as Phyllis Rogers Stone — will be sought to continue in the Broadway run, said Michael M. Kaiser, the Kennedy Center president. He said contract talks with the actors had yet to begin, and added that he was not certain which members of the cast would be available to continue to Broadway.
One of them, Linda Lavin, who performs the song “Broadway Baby,” is already booked for a New York play this fall, for instance. Ms. Maxwell is doing Howard Barker’s play “Victory: Choices in Reaction” at an Off Broadway theater in July, meanwhile.

I hope they keep Maxwell for the transfer. To quote another person, her rendition of "Could I Leave You?" was like hearing a woman's scorn with every verse in the form of haymakers against Ben.

I'm REALLY hoping Schaeffer makes the necessary changes. The ghosts need work. The younger counterparts need to be in the Montage. While they're at it, bring back the original Montage ending!
I cannot wait to see Bernadette's entrance and exit again. Two of the production's strongest moments. I love having a production revolve more around Sally.

Unfortunately, the Marquis will make a 28 piece orchestra sound like 8. The sound in there is so dead.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Considering how many times Stritch performed the song she pretty much made it her own.
The original Hattie Walker Ethel Shutta was 75 years old.
Margaret Courtenay was 64 when she played the role in 1987 West End production of Follies.
Kaye Ballard was 73 when she played the part in the Paper Mill Playhouse's 1998 revival.
Betty Garrett was 80 when she played Hattie in the 2001 Broadway revival.
Lansbury might be 85, but she sure can pass for a woman in her 60's.
Anyway, I highly doubt she'll do it, since she'll be busy with The Best Man Broadway revival coming this January. But, still I don't understand how anyone would not want to see that Broadway legend to perform 'Broadway Baby'.

As per Jan Maxwell's facebook, she seems to have already been confirmed for the transfer saying things like "we're so excited", "I can't wait", etc., in comments and actually posting the article from playbill.

Not sure marquis is right theatre but I am just thrilled this show is broadway bound.
Limited season but let's hope its a bug success so it's has a good run.
I bet jan maxwell arrives with the show.
Paige, not sure about. Linda lavin, easily refil that role. I think Liza would own that part and show stop it if given the chance. I would love to see Angela Lansbury do I'm still here, but even for follies, sadly, I think her and stritch are too old!
Hope the show makes a few adjustments and comes up with a more pleasing poster design.
I think I need to book my tickets to broadway baby!!
