Sorry to start a new thread but I thought it’d be better than side discussions in each show thread or the ‘too early’ Tony thread that has so many categories being discussed.
Is this a genuine race now or does Akimbo have it in the bag?
Kimberly Akimbo is complete garbage and the fact that one of these could win a Tony is revolting to me. What an insult to Strange Loop is to be compared with this rubbish.
I think Kimberly Akimbo has a pretty good shot at winning Best Book, Best Score, and Best Musical. I have a hard time seeing Some Like It Hot beating KA. Stranger things have happened, though!
Kimberly Akimbo is a masterpiece. Touching, funny, dark, cutesy, heartbreaking, inspiring, and so many of the things I go to see theatre - specifically musical theatre - for.
Some Like It Hot is a fine throwback musical, but it is just that: fine. I wasn’t moved, and I certainly didn’t leave the theater thinking I’d seen anything new or, in any definition of the word, the “best”.
Kimberly takes it without a doubt, in my mind. But truly crazier things have happened.
Kimberly is the best new musical of this season, bar none.
Team KA, here! I enjoyed SLIH....but haven't given it a second thought since I left the theater.
Honestly, with SHUCKED coming in with great reviews and the unproven mettle of NEW YORK, NEW YORK, I can’t really say anyone has it in the bag. (& JULIET will be the fifth nominee, but not the winner)

Kimberly Akimbo will win Best Musical.
To call it “garbage” is quite honestly the most stupid thing I’ve read on here for a while.
That’s overtaken “the set is the same as Hamilton” (Shucked) comment as no1.

Kimberly Akimbo should hopefully win Best Musical this season. Some Like It Hot was my least favorite musical that I have seen this season and I saw Almost Famous…
I think Akimbo wins Best Musical, Score, Book, Actress and Featured Actor (Cooley). And I'd be delighted.

if we look at recent Tony trends, SLIH isn’t going to win
I can see a scenario where Kimberly Akimbo wins Best Musical and Book, while Some Like It Hot wins Best Original Score. I know the latter’s score has had some criticism for the songs sounding similar to one another, but I’ve seen more acclaim for it than Kimberly Akimbo’s score.

I think Kimberly will take it, but I also get the sense that within the next few years the pendulum is going to start swinging back again to awarding some of the bigger, brassier shows over the smaller, more intimate ones, so I wouldn't be completely stunned if Some Like It Hot takes it.

Kimberly Akimbo will win Book, Score, and Best Actress. Cooley has a more than decent shot. But I think NYNY could take Best Musical. And for me, NYNY completely removes SLIH from any Tony discussion. I liked both a lot, but NYNY is besting SLIH at just about every turn. They make SLIH look quaint. I think J Harrison Ghee is SLIH's only real remaining shot at winning something come June.

At the bare minimum, Kimberly Akimbo wins Musical, Score, Book, Leading Actress, and Featured Actress (for Bonnie Milligan).

I'm fully convinced NYNY is gonna get 'meh' reviews. SLIH got raves except for like three reviews. NYNY has gotten insanely mixed reviews, almost the only pros are the score and the scenic design. The book and plot are going to be the reason it fails at the Tonys.

I believe SLIH will win Best Musical given all the players. It’s truly a gem! KA was fine but SLIH is very strong all the way around.
KIMBERLY AKIMBO is the Best Musical of the season.

Wouldn't you all be surprised if SHUCKED wins big on Tony night?
Definitely would be. It won't happen.

This is a tough one. I had more fun at Some Like It Hot but appreciate the craft of Kimberly.
I love that we have two great original scores this year!
Kimberly Akimbo was just a masterpiece! Probably the best original piece of theatre this year! I have no doubt it will win Best Musical, along with Score, Book, Lead Actress, and, Hopefully, Featured Actress!

I give this opinion * <eye roll>
Based on what I saw a couple weeks ago, NY NY will NOT be winning and poses no threat whatsoever to Kimberly Akimbo.
Definitely Kimberly Akimbo will win. SLIH was excruciating for me.
