Well, Kirstie Alley just tweeted to Sandra Bernhard that she will be in a play on Broadway starting in January (2012).
Obviously, she didn't post a title, etc. Any ideas what play is slated to begin its run on Broadway in January? And yes... she means play NOT musical.

Obviously she'll be playing Dr. E.M. Ashford opposite Cynthia Nixon in WIT. She just screams "scholar of metaphysical poetry".
Thts awesome! I love Kirstie!
Maybe it's a Suzanne Somers/Carrie Fisher type thing? Except a lot more Dianetics-sy?

Wasn't there talk about her coming into CHICAGO?
I bet she's replacing John Laroquette in How to Succeed.
Madame Biggley. I like it.
Wasn't there talk about her coming into CHICAGO?
Yeah, Message Board talk. CHICAGO was one of the many shows people were thinking she'd be joining when she announced on her Twitter account (after her run on ABC TV's DANCING WITH THE STARS) that her goal was to win a Tony Award and that she was in talks with Broadway producers, etc. In order to even be nominated for a Tony that would mean she would need to be going into a new show. That ruled out any of the current Broadway shows, including CHICAGO.
Per her 'tweet' earlier today, apparently it IS a done deal and she will be heading to Broadway at the start of the year. It was confirmed some time ago that it would not be a musical (forgot what source confirmed this), so any plays known to be opening this season Broadway, Ms. Alley could be in its cast.
Clybourne Park?
ugh
I get a gut feeling that it'll be the Broadway revival of WIT opposite Cynthia Nixon.
Oh, lord, I hope not.

I'm surprised she is doing a play, because I remember her saying the reason she did Dancing with the Stars was to get in shape so she could dance in a musical. Anyway, I hope she has a comic role because she is a fine comic actress. She would be good in a farce.
When is Sutton's contract up?
Fat Pig
Bettyboy-I think you may be right. That could be the play.
Sarcasm aside, there's no role for her in FAT PIG. The character of Helen (the "Fat Pig" of the title) is written for a woman in her late twenties/early thirties. That production is probably dead in the water, anyway.
For those seriously suggesting that it's WIT, have you read the play? The character of E.M. Ashford is supposed to be eighty years old.
Here's hoping they cast Kathleen Chalfant.
I can't speak for Brody, but I was obviously being sarcastic.
Bettyboy - One of the only true times I have ever laughed out loud reading this board.
Jokes aside, I'm really excited and interested to find out what she'll be doing.

First of all I am not sure we can really 100% count on Alley for this to happen. She already had something planned for the stage in 2012, but she backed out due to an upcoming sitcom. She might back out again.
Second, I just saw this today:

I hope this is false because Bass is not very creative at all. Look at what he did recently:

Last time I checked that video on Youtube has more than 10,000 dislikes.

Forget Kirstie Alley. What about that dishy ex-husband of hers, Parker Stevenson? That is my idea of good scenic design.

I could see Kirstie doing a revival of Dirty Blonde.
