I guess this quashes the hope anyone had of having Phantom, Les Miz, Cats, and Miss Saigon all on Broadway at the same time...

Can't say I'm sad. The production (that was really just a knock off of the tour) was incredibly uninspired and dull and the cast was pretty mediocre except for Ramin.

Got to say, kinda suprised there waiting for next fall and posting this now. Though they will get pretty good ticket sales I would imagine now till then.
It's a standard strategy that always works.

Oh no! Hamilton22 and I actually agree on something! Can this be the end of the world as we know it?!?!?

I'll have to disagree with you here. I watched it 2 weeks ago and the only person on the cast that was not good was Montego Glover. Alfie Boe was incredible and Brennyn Lark really surprised me.
Nah, the world won't end until Hamilton closes. So the world won't ever end...
It's not about the cast, it's the new concept - which is cheap as dirt.

Oh I'm not saying the Les Mis cast is bad, I'm just saying the cast didn't bring anything new to their roles and did the same things we have seen hundreds of Marius's do and hundreds of Fantine's do. It was a very dull evening for me. I almost left at intermission but wanted to hear Ramin sing Bring him home ( very glad I stayed).

Does this all but guarantee that Miss Saigon will take the Imperial?

I think that's a pretty safe bet. I would say 'yes'.

I saw the production with Ramin and thought it was fantastic. Yes, he was really the only standout, but I enjoyed the show and the rest of the actors were good.

I'm assuming that this takes it over 1,000 performances.

The article directly states that it will have played 1,026 performances at the time of closing.
this had been decided a long time ago, I guess they wanted to see what the advance for 2016 looked like before confirming it. Expect an announcement of MISS SAIGON taking the Imperial next.

I assume that they'll be something going into the Imperial for a limited run between Les Mis closing and Saigon opening unless they're planning refurbishments on the Imperial.
Keala Settle and Ramin Karimloo were inspired choices for their respective roles. The rest was a miscast **** show that should have ran for six months at the very most. Chris McCarrel isn't bad either. He should have originated instead of Mientus.
Very excited to see that John Owen Jones will be returning to Broadway
I should have mentioned Keala. Her and Ramin were great. Keala was hysterical.

Should we expect an announcement soon?

I've never seen Les Mis so it's time to put it on my list! Lol! I have seen the film twice. I didn't like it the first time, it seemed to move so fast (and my brain moves so slow, sometime)...but my son wanted to see the film so I liked it because I knew the general story, so could catch the details, of course all of which I have forgotten now, lol! But I'll have to put the Brodway show on my list. Has anyone ever read the book?

Overall I like this revival. It's not as great as the original but still enjoyable. And I'm not a fan of Ramin. I don't really care about bringing "something new" to the characters. I just want them to sing well, act well, and be in character, which not many people can handle IMHO. I've seen the revival for a few times and I haven't seen a Valjean I really love, so I'm excited John Owen Jones is taking over and really looking forward to seeing him.
I am still bummed about no turntable.

Me too. As someone who was not alive to see the rise of mega musicals, I really wish they used the original set.
