As a young man he was in Warriors film.
Since then he has been in many musicals from Once to Into The Woods to Once Upon AMattress.
I hope there is a part for him in a Warriors musical."
DPK is at the top of my list for "people who've never been nominated for a Tony but deserve to win a Tony." Always great on stage and in David Lynch movies and so versatile.

Since this is coming out as a concept album first, does anyone have rumors/guesses on who would be on it? LMM's usual suspects or do we think he'll work with new people?

The press release promises a "star-studded" group of performers and I am sure that does not merely mean theatre folk (but probably doesn't mean there won't be theatre folk, like Chris Jackson, on it). Lin has the ability to get a wide assortment of people from the pop music world for the album.
Wonder if other frequent collaborators like Alex Lacamoire and/or Bill Sherman are involved?
With the producers on board it seems, to me, that he is going for a harder rap edge with this. I will be interested in who they will have on this recording and hearing it. JMO

I think it's a safe bet that LOJ will NOT be on it.

That is the cast for the concept album only, not the actual show.
And these aren't even the leads, unless he's massively reconfigured the story: this is one of the rival gangs on the prowl in the post-apocalyptic/seventies NYC hellscape.
Excited that Michaela Jae' will be a part of this.

LMM includes David Patrick Kelly AND James Remar on the Warriors project.
One more reason to respect LMM! He has great respect for the past.

I was very excited about this. But ALL female gangs in NYC just doesn’t make sense. I find this very disappointing. It’s just PC BS over reality. It’s not sexism, it’s just realistic about gangs in The Bronx.

The movie had an all-female gang...

Nothing much to add here except that Michael Beck and Deborah Van Valkenburgh were the sexiest duo in all of 70's American cinema. It needed to be said.
The movie had an all-female gang...
I’m all for that…

I have no doubt LMM knows that and will be writing it as a response to WSS and the novel and the film and all that’s followed between then and now."
The screenplay is so much better than the book. The book has a lot of uninteresting backstory. The screenplay was just the action.

I'm with you!
Horrible choice! The testosterone in Warriors was a huge part of the film!
A musical adaptation of a 70’s movie with a girl gang is called Switchblade Sisters!

The movie already is a musical, essentially. The gang members strut around like dancers. It strikes me as an absolutely terrible idea, but so does turning The Outsiders into a musical, and apparently the entire world disagrees with me.
