But this will be fabulous. Too bad the actual production is still the same, ha."
Creative team is restructuring the show and new costumes and choreography are being designed. They’re readdressing the issues and trying to salvage this revival."
Yes, please. The costumes were terrible across the board, but they did not know how to dress Beanie's body type and it shows when you put the same costumes on the standby/understudy. Too bad they can't fix the set.
It's kind of a persistence game, isn't it? If you refuse to go away, you're not really canceled. There's a clear line that cannot be crossed, but before that it's a publicity game.
An interesting idea to explore theoretically, though it would need a much better script than Bitter Wheat or whatever that Mamet rag was called.

Bottom of the second paragraph in the BWW article:
“Lynch now remain with the production only through Labor Day. Tovah Feldshuh will take over the role of Mrs. Brice on September 6th.”

Geez. For me, the backstage story behind this disaster is more interesting than the show itself. Most GLEE viewers have already heard Lea sing several FUNNY GIRL songs on the series and she was just fine. And it seems she too desperately wanted to do the show even if she didn't dress up like Fanny for her third birthday. I think her long-established determination to play the role will be evident in her performance.
Just saw this in the other room concerning another cast replacement. The poster was curious if she'll show her panties during "Who Taught Her Everything She Know" as she did in this clip below..
Broadway isn't exactly happy about this news. Check.Twitter and IG, lots of.people, including current actors, are.voicing their disdain.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Julie Benko is a star and I am thrilled she gets to be THE STAR for 5 weeks and has guaranteed performances every week. Lea has a one in a lifetime voice. This is history in the making."
RippedMan said: "But, in fairness, you can't say casting her as Fanny is upholding whiteness. It's just the character."
I think you're misunderstanding the point of that comment. I don't think Ware is commenting on the race of Fanny Brice or the actors that play her. I think it has more to do with whether or not Michele's "comeback" is actually earned, and in light of that, the question of where the priorities lie within the Broadway community.

That is so true - Beanie only cares about herself and many in the industry- cast are tired of her BS and happy she's done!"
We most certainly have not heard the last of all of this and it's bound to get much uglier. It should have happened long ago and, frankly, Beanie is lucky she wasn't bought out of/released from her contract sooner. Had their advance not been as strong as it was, I bet it would have happened too. She wouldn't have been the first star to leave a show due to things not working. Some amicably, some less so (looking at you, ALW), but it used to be more commonplace.

This is a joke right"
well i for one hope this is no joke...regardless of my liking or not Ms. Michele personally, i have always loved her voice...and this role requires a strong belt, which Lea certainly has...CASE CLOSED!

Ah! Touche. Yeah it's interesting. This the first "uncancelling" we've had right?

Maybe ElephantLoveMedley can change the thread title."

Maybe in the Broadway community, but Lea hasn't really been apart of the community for over a decade. People are "uncancelled" all the time. (In reality, they draw criticism or ire online and then do a media tour talking about what's it's like being "cancelled" completely ignoring the fact that they're still regularly being platformed.)

Does anyone know if Lea's plans to join the show on September 6 will jeopardize her upcoming mini-tour this summer? Sounds tricky to rehearse for a massive role while performing in cities that aren't New York three weeks before your debut, though I guess not impossible?

Ware needs to get over it. She called Michele out on it. Michele addressed it and her career did suffer because of it. Does Ware expect that Michele never, ever work again for the rest of her natural born life for transgressions that happened how many years ago and were already addressed. Seriously?!?!?
