I saw Becky Gulsvig go on for tonight's show and she was really great! Her voice is PERRRRFECT for the role. It's the 2nd time I've seen the show and the only thing I felt she lacks that Bundy has is the comic delivery/comedic timing...I otherwise thought she was FAB.
Thanks for the tip, Anakela. I listened to most of Richard Blake's blog, and there are some great stories in there. I love the backstory he and Nikki Snelson came up with as to how their characters get together in the end. How fun.
INfinite...if you have any other questions about Warner or Warner's storyline, feel free to post them here or in the blog thread for Richard and he will answer them :)

Becky was on for todays matinée and Lindsay was on in her track. . . not sure about the evening though. She was absolutely incredible today and riffed up a storm and told me that she probably wasn't going to ever be allowed to riff as much again, which really upsets me because she has an amazing riff on the second to last "i am so much better". A lot of the ensemble was out today as well. Nathan Balser had Rod Harrelson on for him, Paul Canaan had Rusty Mowery on and let me tell you that was weird (Rusty wasnt a beer bash boy Rod covered that role and it was not pretty), and Michelle Kittrell was also out and Cara Cooper was on in her place as the District Attorny.
AHHHH! and I'll be in TOWN! AHHH! Clumsy, MUST GO!
Yay, I remember you mentioning before wanting to catch Noah!Emmett, so glad you'll be in town!
eta: imnotthatmart- I was there for the matinee yesterday also, and yes agreed much love for the Becky riffing- I did enjoy the "So Much Better," but there was actually this note she hit in "Positive" where I was all 'what was *that*?'- it was great! And, I also really enjoy the people around me who, before the show starts, are complaining about the u/s slips, because LBB is out and so they don't have 'the real one,' and then at intermission can't stop raving about how much they love Becky- much love for understudies love.

so did anyone see gaelin or amber as paulette? If so how were they
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Lol, yes Clumsy, I was there...did you enjoy Noah!Emmett? Cara!Serena being on last night also was a nice surprise- I love being able to watch understudies.
But yes, much love for the Noah!Emmett love- there were these folks behind me who, before the show started, were complaining about Christian being out, blah blah blah, and then at intermission were all "OMG we love the Emmett understudy! Where's the stage door? We have to meet him after the show!" And it was making me laugh.
Then again, a lot of Act I was making me laugh- the bloopers were almost out of control last night...it's been a while since I've been in a theatre when a stagehand has had to come out to make a set piece move- that was my favorite part. But the cast doing "Blood in the Water" when only half of them could sit, and the other half had to stand (except for Laura Bell, sitting on the *floor*) because their seats didn't come out was a close second.
Hope you enjoyed finally being able to see Noah!Emmett.
I'm not a huge follower of understudies, but with the crazy show they were having that night, it kind of added to the flavor. Noah did great with all the unexpectedness.
Fyi, according to her post on her myspace fanpage, Gaelen Gilliland will be going on as Paulette on Dec 15th and 16th.
(IF this is during Orfeh's vacation then that would *probably* mean that Amber Efe is going on as Paulette on Dec 12th/13th/14th, but this is all just pure theory on my part, there's no info online yet that supports this.) MySpace- Gaelen Gilliland Fans
I don't think Orfeh's vacation dates are on her website or myspace yet, so let's hope you're right Anakela because I'm hoping to catch at least Amber as Paulette.
Oh yeah, I am sure that the ‘if’ and ‘probably’ scenario will probably end up being right, I just like to throw in a lot of disclaimers sometimes for the benefit of those who are always all “link?” or “site?” or “proof?” or whatever anytime I say anything, especially anything about Blonde and/or understudies. :) Also especially though since technically Orfeh’s vacay days aren’t posted anywhere yet.
Ps- I love the way that Kate Shindle’s all sticking her tongue out at me anytime I read anything you post here, lol.
Ok so im thinking im going to see legally blonde on a wednesday matinee on january 4th....does that mean im going to see becky as elle? becuase from what im reading on here it seems like becky goes on a LOT compared to other understudies that i hear about. I kind of hope i get to see laura bell bundy but if becky is as great as singing as i hear i guess it wouldn't matter that much.
also, why would becky be told she wouldn't be allowed to riff as much after that one show?
I don't think Becky has gone on a lot. She has gone on quite a few times, but out of the 100s of shows they have done so far she's probably gone on less than 10 times. I'd say you have a pretty good chance of see Laura.
