FYI - Cara went on as Serena today! She was amazing as always! Laura sounded a bit under the weather at the beginning of the show but once Positive came around she was amazing, as usual. Becky was beautiful and Orfeh was spot on.

I thought LBB was simply great. I thought she sounded better than the CD.
There were TWO understudies on though. Cara was one...but I can't remember the other.
Had a great time w/my 50 8th graders from Boston!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I know he's been out before, but I have *never* seen either of Richard H. Blake's understudies go on, so I am excited about this (I was planning to go to Blonde Saturday evening anyway, to see Gaelen!Paulette)-
Matthew Risch will be going on as Warner in LEGALLY BLONDE on Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16.
Okay so I am going to see the show Saturday - can anyone verify that Laura will be on?! I want to see her soooo bad! She is my idol!!!!!! I will cry if I don't get to see her - I know her understudies are amazing but when you are spening $1000 to come see a specific person, and there are already two understudies, you kinda start freaking out...
la la, la la! you'll be popular! just not quite as popular as ME!
^ Um, not to 'freak you out' more, but fyi there are actually already three announced understudies for this Saturday: Orfeh, Andy Karl and now Richard H. Blake are all announced to be out.
yea there are 6 of us going... my mom is taking me and my sister's and cousin! three of us are diehard lbb fans and none of us have ever seen her live... i guess all i can do is hope! plus flight, hotel, etc... its an expensive outing to go to nyc! lol

Well, good luck! I normally LOVE understudy shows. But I can get a little snippy when Eden Espinosa's out in LA, and that's only after an hour's drive. I hope it all works out for you. :)
We missed LB when we were in NY this summer. From what I've seen on TV, though, Matthew Risch is adorable!
I'm totally planning on seeing the show this Sunday's matinee. I love understudyage. Does anyone know who'll cover Andy? I've seen it twice when Andy was on for Callahan and Emmett, but Matthew Risch covered Kyle/Dewey both times. If Matthew's going on for Warner, who'll take over for Andy?
Also, how's rush been lately. Would showing up at 10 be good?
Madprops -- Jason Gillman, Warner's other understudy, was on for Andy tonight but it was weird...there was an insert because there were so many understudies and maybe because of the mixups...Jason was listed as playing pforzheimer/dewey/kyle and Rod H. was playing Grandmaster Chad, and that's how it went. (pforzheimer is the harvard admissions dude Jason normally plays). I was really looking forward to seeing Jason rap I lost my insert along the way, so I didn't get a chance to check if there were any other weird combinations of tracks.
So Orfeh, Andy and Traci Jai were out tonight, so in total there were 6 understudies/swings on. The understudy board was almost completely full.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
Umm, fine. Not as good as Orfeh, but not bad. She sang the last part of "Ireland" really well.
I dunno, I feel like others are more equipped to review her than me, lol.

Amber Efé didn't copy Orfeh's performance at all. She was completely different. She sang the role well but you could tell she was a little unsure of her performance. The Wednesday matinee was her first performance ever as Paulette and she hadn't had an understudy rehearsal since before the strike.
The inserts weren't wrong. Nick Kenkel was out and he usually covers Grandmaster Chad, so Rod had to go on. Since Jason Gillman was on for Andy's other parts, they had to specify that he would also be playing the Harvard admissions guy as it's not included in his track.
Cara Cooper was Serena. She was excellent. Jason Gillman will be on for Andy Karl all week, as Matthew Risch is Warner this weekend. I guess since Warner is a bigger role, they gave Jason the entire week as the UPS guy. And if you've only seen Matthew, Jason will not disappoint. He is HILARIOUS and makes the role his own. My personal favorite moment is when he says "I've got a package" and holds the box in front of his...well, let's say its a "dick in a box" moment. :-P
Amber was great. It was only her second show and she didn't screw up. She is also battling a cold, so I was super impressed that she WORKED IT SO HARD CORE. Seriously, it's like ghetto sasstress Paulette and I enjoyed it. No one is going to measure up to Orfeh, but Amber definitely held her own.
She has this huge afro hair, which is absolutely FABULOUS and hilarious and she does a lot of her line readings with attitude. It was completely different from Orfeh, but not in a bad way. Her Paulette seemed more innocent and she towered over people, so it was cute. She is an excellent dancer and definitely has a set of pipes on her. Some of her line readings were hilarious.
I recommend everyone see her as this will probably be the only chance - Orfeh's attendance tends to be spotless :-P
