If it is somehow a financial smash, they can always extend and milk some additional money out of it. But it can also close at a loss - as most subscription house productions do - and it doesn’t have to be viewed as a failure in the same way the 2009 revival was."
^This!^
I also want to say that next season will be as intriguing a three-horse race for best revival of a musical as it is this season for best musical.
This, CATS, and FIDDLER (with MAMMA MIA!, CHESS, and ROCKY HORROR being three of the more “popular” revivals among audiences).

My wish for this show has always been that it would catch on with the general public as a sort of American Les Mis. It's remarkable that a show this beloved by the theater community remains largely unknown to the broader population. At any rate, I'm excited for this revival and really hope we get a new cast recording of this exquisite score.
But this director gives me pause.

Full Encores cast is set to transfer, though it should also be notedthat Joy Woods — who was originally announced to play Sarah — will be free by the time this starts rehearsals.
"
Where do you see that the full cast is transferring? The article says casting is not announced yet.

Prada will get destroyed on Broadway 😂

Fiddler? What?!
Kate Baldwin sang “Back to Before” at the Broadway leading ladies concert at Town Hall a few weeks ago and absolutely brought the house down. I would love to see her play the role, even though it seems unlikely.

The upcoming West End production starring Adam Dannheiser is coming to NYC next spring after a UK tour in the fall.
Take that with a grain of salt, especially this far out. EDSOSLO858 has a habit of reporting chickens before they’re hatched.

Looking at a Saturday matinee at the Met, and thinking maybeconvenient to stay aroundLincoln Center?"
I’d personally be completely exhausted (in a bad way, not an artistically fulfilling way)by an opera followed by a 3+ hour musical about racism and antisemitism at the turn of the century, regardless of how close the buildings are to each other. I would need a heavy nap in between."
I agree; as an alternative, think about seeing something lighter on Broadway. I would leave this for the night, however, and see the other show in the afternoon (which is what I intend to do).
In 20 or 30 years I hope someone has the balls to do Ragtime and Parade in Rep.

Baldwin would be my number one pick for Mother. IMO the best voice on Broadway and she deserves a lead role like this.

GREAT NEWS. Will this be city center's production or brand new revival.

City Center, but with a bigger budget.

there is a 1% chance we are getting ANOTHER production in nyc so soon

The Broadway revival was ten years ago, dear.

Intellectually, I know you’re right, but emotionally, I cannot believe you.
We’re about to get the fifth season of a massive hit tv series that premiered during the Obama Administration. Certainly, that means Obama was president 5 years ago. Right? RIGHT???
Hey Lear -- Can we please get a Man of La Mancha revival with Jordan Donica.
