I also want to say that next season will be as intriguing a three-horse race for best revival of a musical as it is this season for best musical.

This, CATS, and FIDDLER (with MAMMA MIA!, CHESS, and ROCKY HORROR being three of the more “popular” revivals among audiences).

My wish for this show has always been that it would catch on with the general public as a sort of American Les Mis.  It's remarkable that a show this beloved by the theater community remains largely unknown to the broader population. At any rate, I'm excited for this revival and really hope we get a new cast recording of this exquisite score.

Kate Baldwin sang “Back to Before” at the Broadway leading ladies concert at Town Hall a few weeks ago and absolutely brought the house down. I would love to see her play the role, even though it seems unlikely.

I agree; as an alternative, think about seeing something lighter on Broadway.  I would leave this for the night, however, and see the other show in the afternoon (which is what I intend to do).

Baldwin would be my number one pick for Mother. IMO the best voice on Broadway and she deserves a lead role like this.

If memory serves, EDSOSLO was swearing up and down that Ragtime was taking the Palace after Tammy Faye. They repeat gossip as fact. Lots and lots of salt/
