One of my happiest moments was seeing Dame post again a few months ago and me telling Dame that I missed it when he/she punctuated every post with "Hussy!" and then he/she responded to me with "Hussy!".

I miss reading the posts of the longtime stalwarts, especially those of PThespian.

I think the Dolly revival brought some of us back. There was something to commiserate about.

Relatively new as had to rejoin, but the 'fun' of Sue and Philly was just awesome[am 73 so really shouldn't use such a juvenile term but it fits so well]. Never read and contributed to such bitchyness, what joy.

There are many I see regularly on FB, though their contributions around here are greatly missed, like Jane2, tazber, growltiger, Calvin and Sueleengay (and countless others). I don't miss the people I've blocked, so if they've stopped posting, I wouldn't even notice.

There are four sites I’ve been going to daily for what feels like forever: CNN, Facebook, Playbill, and BWW. Actually, I’ve been going to Playbill every day for about twenty-three years, since when I was around twelve years old and the internet was like a newborn baby.
I miss the early days of BWW when there were less people and more civility. Margo Channing was great. I’m sorry to hear of their passing.

It's just not the same.
I remember when I joined I would sit at my computer and read these boards for hours. I found out about shows I never knew existed. I would write them down and research them. Find the music from musicals I learned about and listen. I even felt comfortable enough to open up about personal thing here and on the off topic boards.
This site filled in a lot of gaps for me. Even though I grew up back here and kept up with theater, when I moved west I was out of the loop. I often think about people who join who live in small towns where this is their connection to theatre. Or to NY theatre.
These days, quite honestly, if I were one of those people, like I was out west, and new to the site I would almost be afraid to post or start a thread asking a question for fear of the snarky remarks.
But I check in every day. Still post. Because I love theatre.
Just my random thoughts.

Many newcomers over the years have met with just such a reception, opting to leave soon thereafter. It's a shame, really, for we've lost many new voices with worthwhile things to say. It's also not nice, but then, the snarkmeisters don't really care about being nice --- just the opposite! I gather they think they're amusing. To themselves, perhaps, but I find them anything but. The irony is, many of these perpetrators have themselves moved on, but, unfortunately, the people they chased away have not come back. It's really too bad.

i actually thought of Philly because he was a complete and utter annoyance but was sort of fun. i wonder whatever happened to him? i could have sworn i followed him on twitter but can’t find his account.
some others i wish still posted: icecreambenjamin, findingnamo (though i follow him on twitter) and anyone know if that rapscallion mr smith still shows up with a new name from time to time?

The wealth of information that Margo Channing had was one of the main reasons I visited these boards daily.
Agreed.
Plus I miss after eight .
Like a hole in the head.
I need to add I’m so glad Whizzer never went anywhere
Absolutely- the last vestige of the old days. Also, the rare visits from PalJoey and Morosco.
The West End board was killed by a couple of persistently moronic posters- I still miss WickedBoy very much. Gladdened by the occasional visits of SongandDanceman (though our tastes differ) and Scripps.

I've noticed CapNHook hasn't posted in a while. How can one forget a name like that?

I miss onceadancer and fear she may have passed on (she danced in some of the original Rodgers and Hart musicals).
And why is it that no one has mentioned Corine?

Possibly because my wit, charm and elegance are still very much present on these boards. Don't you agree?

I think PGenre moved to California where he works in film music? He was very knowledgeable.

I miss Glebb. His threads/comments were the best.
There was a poster who started a kitsch thread on the off-topic board. I cannot remember the screen name. If anyone remembers it, please tell me.

I still miss WickedBoy very much.
Ugh...WHY?!?! He was just as nasty and cruel as mamasdoinfine. Speaking of the West End board, I miss Weez.

I suspect you know it was the same person.
He was very well-informed and was only snippy when people were being obtuse.
There was a nice crowd but the board was soured.

If I remember correctly best12 began tapering off his posting during the SueStorm debacle, and was definitely gone after Murin-gate. And I'm right there with you on admiration of his Oz knowledge.
