It's cool. I'm still getting used to the entire left side being gone.
Anyone find where the "settings" tab has been moved to?

Um, maybe I'm having a particularly dense day, but where are all the links that used to be on the left side of the screen?
And another vote for something to break the vast expanse of whiteness on the page. If some people thought it was too busy before, well, it's too much the opposite now.

Posted: 9/6/13 at 2:58pmIt looks GREAT!!! And, it appears to be an original look, not an overdone revival of a needed item!!

We've unified and simplified the navigation all up top. I know it'll take some getting used to (it has for me in testing/tweaking over the last few days), but once used to it, it's MUCH easier to hop around.
Settings/Mail/Login have all moved to the upper right.

It's at the top right (No Mail SETTINGS Logout)

Posted: 9/6/13 at 3:06pmOh I see them now! Thanks Rob and Wicked Fanatic.

Posted: 9/6/13 at 3:16pmIt seems as if pages never fully load. In Firefox the green progress arrow on the tab never stops spinning.

OK, I see what you mean, Rob. And yeah, it's going to take a bit of getting used to.
Am I seeing things, or is the size of the font in Latest Headlines (when you're on a message board page) smaller than it was? I know my eyes are bad, so maybe it's just me. But it looks like there's enough space to make the font a little bigger?

I'm going to agree, I find that I'm squinting because of all the bright white....a grey tone would be great!

Congratulations on the new design, Rob!
One comment (and maybe it's just my server): I can't get to the options in the drop-down menus at the top, because the ads, or other features on the page are in front of the selections.
The formatting seems to be a little 'off', but I know you said this is mid roll-out. I look forward to the final, finished product.
Congratulations!

The layout is great! Yes, it will take getting used to, but I really like the clean, streamlined look and feel.
I do agree with others about the bright white for a background. As I recall that was even attempted with the last redesign (years ago). It's harsh on the eyes, and for those of use who spend a good amount of time on the message boards, it grows uncomfortable after a just few minutes (aka, less time spent by members on the boards).
Other than that, I look forward to checking everything out.
Nice job!

Starting to get used it and the flow of access is definitely much easier. Thank you!
I agree with the others on all of the white – it would be great if the white was turned to a grey or if the page could expand so that there was not so much white on each side.
Also, I would love if the text on the headlines on the main page was made bigger. In the main slideshow, the pictures are so big compared to the text accompanying it that I almost miss what the actual news story is.

A couple of things I really love:
1) the speed. Everything seems to be optimized really well. Not sluggish at all.
2) I love that little gray box in the lower right corner when you scroll down in a thread. If you "mouse" over it, it's an arrow. Click it, and you jump to the top of the page again. Very cool, and very convenient!

Is anyone else having the problem with pages seeming to never finish loading? The green progress indicator on the tab of the site never stops spinning (and thus you never have the option to refresh the page you are on). Makes me wonder what is going on in the background.

Posted: 9/6/13 at 6:15pmWhich version of Firefox are you using? Not able to replicate that here on 22, 23, or 24... but it's possible you're getting a 3rd party ad gone awry or we're using different versions.

I'm using Firefox 23.0.1 and I think I've discovered what's happening. I disabled Adblock 2.3.2 and the page completely loaded.

Posted: 9/6/13 at 6:23pmRob, I've got Firefox 23.0.1 and I'm seeing the same problem Morosco describes. It looks like everything has loaded, but the green progress indicator never stops spinning. I have to manually click the "x" in the address bar to get it to stop.

Oh, hey! The gray background looks lovely! My poor, abused eyes thank you!
ETA - I didn't mean that BWW was solely responsible for my abused eyes -- it was just one more in a multitude of daily glare attacks. Thank you for fixing it!
