I am visiting from the UK in Sep. I’m really confident with booking West End shows as I am there most weeks, I know where to get the deals and the good cheaper seats. I am however at a total loss on Broadway. A couple of questions regarding The Music Man.
Firstly does anyone know when Hugh Jackman ends his run in this show?
Secondly how many rush seats do they do for each performance? I am coming with my son and it will be me getting up early and I would hate to queue for hours knowing if I’m more than 20th in the queue I won’t have a chance
Thirdly if I was to buy directly are they via the theatre or is there a non-rip off website to use? I’m only in NYC for 5 nights one of which is a Mon and one I am at a concert. So what would you Broadway experts suggest is best?

I'm not able to answer all your questions, except for --
*The show is selling through November 6, 2022 at the moment. Jackman performs all 8 shows a week. Should he not be able to do a performance, because his billing is above the title, you may be able to get a refund for a missed performance.
*Originally, there were three weeks when he is supposed to be on a break and no tickets were being sold. One break is now unblocked (sometime in October) and tickets are now being sold for that week. His remaining two breaks remain blocked ( for which no tickets are sold). One is in August and the other is from Sept 5-11, 2022. You can check the schedules/booking options if you follow the above link.
Got there at 5:45 because of all the different posts I read here saying how long the line gets, and I wanted to ensure I got tickets since I was only in town for 4 days. I was the only person there until about 6. (The guy tells me he stopped by the day before hours after the box office opened and said they box office still had rush seats available. Not sure why he didn’t get tickets then, but I’d assume he already had tickets to another show). The next person after that didn’t show up until maybe 6:30. About 6:45 a couple shows up and mentions they came at 5am bc of what they had heard but since no one else was there and it was so cold, they left after 10-15min. A little after 7am it started to pick up with a few more people getting in line but I want to say in that hour there were like 12 or less of us. After 8am, more people joined and I believe when I counted there were less than 40 people in line when the box office opened. They only had limited view seats that day. As first person in line, I was row A seat 13 (you missed anything that happened upstage right or stage right. And a piano is placed downstage right in some scenes that hinders your view too). The second guy in line got row A seats 11 & 9. And the next people in line got row B seats 15 & 13.
Overall, I kinda wished I slept in a little longer that day but was happy I was able to see the show. I just wish the box office would sell tickets from the center out as opposed from the ends in because I felt like I wouldn’t have missed as much if I was in seat 9. However, seat 13 did give me extra leg room bc there was some dead space between the orchestra pit and the speakers placed on that side.
Can someone advise whether row A (orchestra right) seats 10-12 (very to the side) is better or would row V the last one (center or to the side) be better? I am rather short. Thanks!
I'd say go for row V center orch if you want to see the whole stage. In row A, you’ll miss all the things that happen upstage, but Hugh does a majority of his entrances and exits on that right side. So if you want to be close to the action, but don’t mind missing things, go for the closer seats. I was on the opposite side of row A in the last seat and that was my experience.
For those who have rushed on a Wednesday or Saturday morning do people start showing up at around the same time? 5:30 6:00? I would think Saturday would be a busier Rush day.
Got there today (Friday) at 5:45am, we were ninth and tenth in line. Got two pairs, orchestra right O 40&42 and P 42&44 (partial view).
UPDATE: the person behind us arrived five minutes after we did, and they were the last people to get tickets. Every day is different, but for a weekend you should plan to get there early. The view was mostly good! Upstage left was blocked off, and a light blocked Hugh's entrance, but other than that we could see everything well enough. For $49.50, definitely worth it!

Rushed Wednesday 5/11. Got there at 5:45 and was 9th in line. Around 9am the line went around the corner..approx 75 people. Got D 17 and 19 partial view. Not bad. The piano that others mentioned during two numbers blocked a bit of the view but not terrible.. Can't complain for $49.50.
''I would think Saturday would be a busier Rush day.''
I'd agree. More folks are available to rush on the weekends.
A friend of mine rushed two Saturdays ago. He says he got there at 5 a.m., and there were already 6 people ahead of him. The first one got there at 4:30.
The Music Man just announced a standing room policy today, May 16, 2022:
"A limited number of tickets will be available for same-day purchase, subject to availability, beginning 2 hours before performances at the box office of the Winter Garden Theatre for $76 each. Limit 2 tickets per customer."
A few thoughts:
I'm glad they're doing this, giving more people a chance to see the show
Why is this just starting now, five months after performances started? That's very odd
$76?! That's egregiously overpriced. The rush seats (where you get to sit!) only cost $49. I don't care if those seats are partial view and this is full - $76 for the chance to STAND is the pinnacle of capital greed.
Even though these tickets are a rip off, it's still better than the $280 average ticket price and better to see the show at all, even if standing, than not getting to. I'm glad this is happening - but they should just make this the same $49 they charge for rush.
Rushed yesterday 5/15. First in line with a 5:50am arrival. The next group arrived about 10 minutes after us. I don't remember exact timing but the line really didn't fill up until closer to 9. I counted around 35 people before the box office opened. Box office worker said they had around 30 tickets. I did notice that they did have SRO when I was walking to my seat.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I'm planning on rushing tomorrow (5/18) at 6am for 1 ticket to either the 2 or 8pm performance. I was wondering if I may have a better shot of getting a full view seat going by myself as compared to a partial view. Thanks.
They sell what they have, but if you ask them they’ll let you know if all their rush seats are limited view or not. The box office attendants are generally pretty nice in accommodating you (as long as you’re not indecisive and hold up the line). With your flexibility of either show, it’ll probably work in your favor.
16th on line after arriving at the theatre a few minutes before 6am. First person at 2:30am and I think 5pm after that. Seats are D 13 & 15. They said they only had partial view.
Rushed yesterday 5/17 (a Tuesday). My friend arrived at 5:45 and me a few minutes later, we only wanted 1 ticket each. I believe we were 11th-12th in line and about the 16th-17th ticket based on the number of tickets others got. I think the first person arrived around 3:30am. There were only 2-3 people behind us until 6:30/7am and then the line grew a lot more closer to 8am. Not sure how many tickets were sold. We got D17 & D19. Apparently a few of the people behind us were scalpers because we saw them trying to sell tickets outside prior to curtain , that was a bummer to see.
I rushed on May 20th. I arrived at 4:25am. I was third in line. The first two waiting in front of me were Professional Line Sitters. The person behind me was a scalper, which arrived about 5am. The fifth persion arrived within a few minutes as well at around 5am. By 6am, there were about 10 people in line. By the time doors opened at 10am, I think we counted about 62 people in line. Not sure how many were sold, but was happy with my results. When the box office doors were opened, two box office windows were opened. The line sitters went to one window, and I went to the other. I was the first out the door, so I believe I ended up with the first purchase of the day. I was able to purchase 2 tickets in A9 and A11 for $49 each , partial view.

Why were the 2 people in front of you "Professional Line Sitters", and the person behind you a "scalper"? Did you ask to see their resumes? Couldn't have had anything to do with skin color, I'm sure.
I don’t understand the professional line sitters coming to rush for this show - if they get there before 5 am, surely paying a line sitter for 5-6 hours plus the $49 for a probably partial view ticket is more expensive than just buying a (likely much better) $279 seat in the rear orchestra.

First, it is hilarious you would suggest such a thing. In fact, you may be the racist one. What color of skin are you assuming I am? By that comment alone, you are suggesting I am a certain skin color, when in fact you have no idea what color of skin I have. So you are indeed a racist prick.
Third, n regards to the scaler, she was an old white women. How dare I assume she was a scalper, when in fact she openly stated it as well? She told everyone she was selling tickets. So once again, you are the racist one to assume it had anything to do with color. Enjoy your miserable racist life.
My friends and I rushed today (5/21). We got there 4:50, and were about 11th in line. There were a couple families in front of us (one who only had one person waiting who said her husband and kids would be joining her later, but they didn’t show up until like at 9:30 and they got 4 tickets, which is just poor line etiquette), but most got tickets to the matinee, so we were able to get four tickets to the evening performance no problem. Our seats were C 13, 15 and D 13, 15. The seats in row D were the better view. If given a choice with the partial view, I think it’s better to go a few rows back like that. I think the people in D 17 and 19 missed a lot though. Definitely worth seeing though!
