N2N's Final Weekend

Posted: 1/17/11 at 5:44pmAnother funny anecdote....many people have mentioned the fierce Phylicia Rashad look alike usher at The Booth Theater over the course of the show's run. Prior to the show, she got her own little round of applause from the audience members who were seated around me, which was cute. It's so funny that the people who were the most conspicuous were probably there for the umpteenth time. I was mortified when I let out just the littlest blubber during the music box scene. I had a similar blubbering episode once with my parents during the end of Les Miserables. Lots of sniffles where I was, but none of the one upmanship that has been described elsewhere.

Posted: 1/17/11 at 6:00pmI couldn't make it to the final performance and I was still a wreck, I was on my computer and saw it was 7:30 got teary eyed held it together though. Then at around 10 I thought the show is over oh god the show is OVER. Then today I saw the final curtain call video and lost it. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"

Posted: 1/17/11 at 7:04pmThe Phylicia Rashad looking usher is terribly rude. Why did she receive an applause?

Posted: 1/17/11 at 7:28pmI disagree about her. I see her as someone who takes her job very seriously. I've seen her put a quick stop to a woman who was about to climb over the seat behind her as opposed to leaving from the end of the aisle. She sternly said "ma'am, a lady does NOT do that." She keeps the theater from turning in to The Meadowlands.

I love Marjorie! My last time seeing the show was Marin and Jason's first performance and Marjorie was my usher. There had recently been a thread about ushers and people were talking about how gracious she is. I showed it to her that night and she was extremely grateful to see how she had made a difference to the audience members of next to normal.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get back to the Booth since July, but I'm thankful I was able to see next to normal three times, once with Alice and Michael, once with Alice and Bobby, and the last with Marin and Jason. I found it hard to listen to the cast recording this morning, realizing that it was over, but as nexttotheheights put it "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

Majorie and all the staff stays with the house right?
I also really got to know Beth (she was the lady who give out the hearing devices) VERY nice lady. I would always go chat with her at intermission
Just one of the Many things im going to miss about Next to Normal being at the booth
Last night was an amazing night. I've now seen the show 21 times at the Booth, This show will be greatly missed I feel like I have made a "second family" at the Booth since I've been there so much lately, last night it kind of felt like a chapter of my life was closing(not to sound cheesy). Im gonna miss my 2nd family, my 2nd home, and this amazing show so much.
Next to Normal was truly a life changing experience that I feel very grateful and blessed to have seen. Im gonna miss it so much, to me its more than a show. I connect with it on a personal level, my mom told my last night before I went "Oh its just a show don't worry about it", but to me it's more than a show.
This show has touched the lives and hearts of many,
Last night was a beautiful end to an amazing run, and to think this show was the show people thought wouldn't last (I remember seeing it in early previews and loving it but thinking it wouldn't last because its touches on too sensitive of a subject), and for the show to of had an almost 2 year run at the Booth is incredible.
Next to normal will always live on in our hearts.
There will be light

Posted: 1/17/11 at 7:58pmCorrect -- all of the house staff remain at the Booth. However, they can sub to other theaters until they have a show again.

Marjorie is a wonderful usher, one who understands that people who attend the theatre ought to have some manners. Pity the poor souls who tried to use a cell phone, take a picture, or text in her section.
Having spoken with her many times, I can tell you that she has nothing but the highest level of respect and admiration for both the show and theatre in general.
I adore her, and I'm glad she received a round of applause. She certainly deserves it.

I'm not trying to start any "bootlegs are bad/good/whatever" fights, but does anyone happen to have an audio of last night? PM me if you do please.
Also, last night before the show my friend and I sent a quick text to Alice in Denver and she sends love to her fans and to the final cast. Gotta love that woman (no matter how crazy).

Marjorie (M. Glover...who could forget that nametag) is absolutely, hands down, my favorite usher. She's a person whose respect you must win, but it's all the more special to interact with her once you've won it. I wish she were a nanny....she'd raise some seriously respectful, productive members of society.
She started recognizing me somewhere around my 5th time coming...and now, with a grand total somewhere in the 30s (or something) I really do feel like I'm leaving my aunt behind! She was just so sweet. Just handed over the playbill with a laugh and told me to go get in my seat. :)
PROVOCATION - what does it mean if something gets "tracked?"
#89N2N's Final Weekend
Posted: 1/17/11 at 9:55pmHummingAlong, I'm assuming steven22 recorded something from the show. If it remains "untracked," it would just be a recording of the show without divisions between the scenes and songs thus you would have to fast forward through the entire thing to hear a particular part. A "tracked version", however, would have divisions in the audio recorded so you could pick and choose a part to listen to without having to fast forward to get to "Wish I Were Here," for example.

Since everyone is discussing it, I'd love to hear the final night's audio.
But is there any show audio with Brian Crum as Gabe? I love his voice. Wanted a chance to see him.
