It's so strange you are using the words "movie/film". Twice. This isn't a movie/film. It's a musical and due to the weather and unknown variants, it will be shot on a soundstage, like always.
I randomly thought about a post in this thread suggesting Sara Bareilles as Grace during a jog today. Upon my initial reading of the suggestion, I overlooked it entirely, but after some thought -- I actually don't hate it.
Edited to add that I don't hate the idea of Mandy Moore as Grace. I also think her current NBC connection makes her a possibility.

Mandy as Grace doesn’t sound bad. But she maybe busy with the final season of This Is Us.
I think Rachel Bloom would be perfect as Hannigan. She has the voice and she is as funny as they come without resorting to schtick. I also think Brian Stokes Mitchell would be a great Warbucks but they probably couldn't get him.

Love both of those suggestions! But why do you say they couldn't get Stokes? He's a beloved actor, but I don't get the sense that he's in incredibly high demand (even though he should be). Does he have an upcoming project I don't know about? Or maybe it's that he's in demand, but just super picky about the roles he takes, in which case you might be right.
I love Keegan Michael Key, but I don't think I could take him seriously as the stern Warbucks.

That was me! Glad someone else agrees! I think she’d be a wonderful Grace and would give a different portrayal to what we’ve already seen with Ann and Audra.
I kind of like the idea of James Monroe Iglehart as "Daddy Warbucks" and Mandy Moore as "Grace", and whoever suggested Kathryn Hahn for "Miss Hannigan" gets two thumbs up.
