Posted: 6/9/12 at 4:42pmPlum, there was no other choice. Emmy rules only permit the entry of one song per "team," and since Shaiman and Wittman wrote all the show's songs except for "Touch Me," there was no other possible second song.

Posted: 6/9/12 at 4:43pmTo be fair, "Let Me Be Your Star" is the best song from the show, but yeah, that's a ridiculous rule. Wonder what made them come up with that in the first place?

Posted: 6/9/12 at 4:44pmThey could have not submitted a second song. I think my reaction was mostly due to being forced to remember that "Touch Me" happened. :P

Posted: 6/9/12 at 5:00pmI would've personally submitted Let's Be Bad. Now that's the showstopper.

Posted: 6/9/12 at 6:08pm"Let Me Be Your Star" "Secondhand White Baby Grand" and "Don't Forget Me" would have been my choices for submission.

Posted: 6/9/12 at 6:30pmIt's probably best that there are only two possible nominees on the shortlist. Too many would probably cause some vote splitting. Now "Let Me Be Your Star" can be recognized in honor of all the songs Shaiman and Wittman have written.

Posted: 6/9/12 at 11:56pmI love "Let Me Be Your Star" and thought it worked extremely well in the pilot, it felt really special at the time, it showed a kind of promise that the show was rarely able to fulfill in the subsequent episodes. I'm pleased that they picked it to represent the show; I imagine "Touch Me" was submitted as a formality more than anything, if it doesn't get nominated it doesn't get nominated, and if it does the show can say it got two Best Original Song nominations--and honestly, what kind of competition is it facing anyway?

Here's Katharine McPhee's idol audition, if anybody hasn't seen it already.

I know that sometimes the Teen Choice Awards can be a joke, but the show and McPhee have both received nominations.

Posted: 6/14/12 at 3:52pmIs there a reason Secondhand White Baby Grand couldn't have been submitted? I think it's far and above the best song in the series, though I must confess I did like quite a few of the original songs.

Just what this show needs is another former "American Idol" contestant. Look who's joining the cast.

Posted: 6/22/12 at 9:06pmI'd be happier if they dropped the Marilyn story and made it a Karen Carpenter musical. Good story for drama and music.

J. Hud needs to do a broadway stint. Sister Act would've been perfect, but changing subjects the show is headed in an exciting direction. Now they just need to announce the third new member.

I am very excited to see Jennifer Hudson on the show as well!!
Here's to hoping there will be an original number for Hudson/Hilty/McPhee all to sing together

Posted: 6/23/12 at 4:03amIvy Lynn wound up not being Mari-lyn. Which means Karen Cartwright would wind up not being Karen Car-penter. Which means another Idol/Broadway hire who looks and sounds the part.

Why is there so much about Karen Carpenter on this board all of a sudden??
I'm a huge fan of Hudson's voice, bc who couldn't be, but the last thing this show needs is another bad actor.
