great move by the producers getting bernadette and great scoop by jordan catalano letting us know two months early! when i first read it, i was keeping my fingers crossed it would go through
I'm planning an NYC trip next summer...should I snatch tickets for Bernadette when they go on sale this Saturday? I have some Audience Rewards points that I want to redeem for a couple shows, but I know tickets aren't available there until awhile after the initial onsale. I'm already planning on redeeming for Band's Visit. Do y'all think it will be a more likely possibility to redeem for Bernadette or, say, Mean Girls? Thanks for any insight!
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Beyond excited! (even though this was my favorite show last season and any announcement would cause this reaction out of me)
Also, I think its safe to assume there will be different merchandise without Bette's name on it, but do you think we will be getting a new Program Book as well with Bernadette on the cover?
I'd use your rewards for Mean Girls. I have a feeling discounts will be available for Bernadette, and most of the fish to see her will be in her first weeks.

Thanks, Mildred! Wasn't even thinking discounts as much as I was thinking possibility of being on AR! I agree Mean Girls will be a hotter ticket. I don't think Bernadette will be an instant sellout all the way into May, so I'll check availability occasionally and snatch up a ticket if need be. Cheers!
So I guess we'll find out how many shows/week she's doing when tickets go on sale and how long she's signed on for?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
There was nothing in the press release about Donna Murphy's departure, but I can't imagine Bernadette needs or wants an alternate. I also don't see Murphy agreeing to be Peters' alternate, but who knows.
Jordan Catalano said: "As of this moment, I think Donna is leaving with Bette."
I don't think she's staying either. Her replies on Twitter suggest that she's there for a finite amount of time, and I doubt the show would stay dark were she to continue with the show. I was hoping to see her with Garber in a FOLLIES reunion, but I'll make a trip to see her last performance in January.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I don't know. With Midler, Taylor Trensch, and David Hyde Pierce all leaving, I'm inclined to agree with Jordan that Creel will depart as well. I don't really wanna see anyone else as Irene after Kate Baldwin won me over with her grounded and funny performance, but there's a good chance that the main princials all depart.

I can't imagine that the entire principle cast would leave all at once. I would imagine that they would stay on with Bernadette unless they have been offered another project, which I don't believe they have.
