Darling, I'm simply stating my opinion on an opinion board. I didn't think it necessary to write "in my opinion". Although, I thought it was the general opinion that Peters' performances in the 80s, especially her collaborations with Sondheim, were the peak of her esteemed performance career. I happened to love her Sally, but others didn't. Since her performances in Into the Woods and Sunday In the Park survive in a widespread way, the opinion I had heard most often stated (just opinions, of course) was acclaim.
Some people think Elizabeth Taylor is at her peak in Cleopatra. Others think Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, or even Butterfield 8 (I don't understand, either). But personally I think her best performance is Suddenly Last Summer. Different strokes.
"Sticks and stones, sister. Here, have a Valium." - Patti LuPone, a Memoir
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
No need to put down or be negative about anyones diva. Bernadette is beautiful and a legend. Maybe just in the musical theater world. But the lack of respect shown here is disgusting. I love Bette and take offense when I read crap. Same is true for a Bernadette fan. And while we are at it you might also want to leave the Liza fans alone. If you don't like it then don't go.
So it's Bernadette and Victor Garber! His partner commented on Brad Goretski's Instagram photo at Dolly that he'll have to make a return visit for Bernadette and Victor. Guess they're just waiting to make the announcement. I love Victor Garber and think he'll be pretty perfect with her.

Why does that bother you (not meant in a snarky way)? Isn't it still a surprise either way? I'm assuming this wasn't a purposeful "leak"; he probably assumed it was out there already (sounds like it's been set for a while) or just thought he was telling a friend.
Please let this be true. Please let this be true. Please let this be true. Please let this be true!

I think what I really mean is, I miss the days of flipping open the paper and seeing an ad for a new star replacement, etc. The ways in which information is spilt out over social media, is not as magical or charming as it used to be.
That said, I can't wait to get tickets. Will you be going?

I get that, Flowers. There was something special about the way things were done when Hollywood and Broadway were almost mythical and the only information out there came from Variety or something of the sort. And yes, I think they're pretty perfect together and the production in general is something special (going again on Friday to see Donna). At this point, I should just have my paychecks forwarded to the Shubert.

Isn't this true of everything?
I have two kids....one I waited to find out until delivery, the other I knew the sex about 5 months in -- both were the same in delight of the news.

Thank God tickets aren't out yet! Turns out that my mom loves Bernadette Peters, so I'll def buy tickets when they come out right away. Gonna surprise her for Christmas!
They likely wont' go on sale until an official announcement is made. They certainly don't want anyone buying tix thinking they are for Bette.

I wonder how soon they'll wait to announce this. By October 1? I'd also guess and say it might be just a 6 month run for them. And does Donna stay on as the alternate and does Peters only do 7 shows/week?

Just checked about two hours ago, and the original comment regarding Garber and Peters was removed on the initial instagram photo thread...Garber's husband retracted his comment/.
I wonder if Garber might get in trouble with rudin

The internet is forever. Dave Quinn tweeted a screencap of the Instagram comment before it was deleted.
