It has a different fan base who aren't usual theater goers and I doubt they will be repeat viewers. I think it will do ok for awhile but it's not going to be close to a Hamilton
And maybe see if it has any staying power. One week does not a run make. It might be huge, but it's a little early toto now.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I am planning on returning again and again, it's a fun show.

Having a different fan base who aren't usual theater goers hasn't stopped Jersey Boys or Beautiful from finding success. No, it's not the next Hamilton, but I could see it being very successful by more typical standards similar to those two aforementioned shows.
It might very well be a big hit, but as far as I'm concerned, it's just more of the same. Jersey Boys, Beautiful. Who needs it. Give me something new. There is one Fun Home for every ten of these shows on Broadway. They are tourist shows. Just my opinion. I am sure someone will jump on the post.
Well, I do think it's the lowest common denominator, but, these shows make shows like Fun Home possible. So, eh. I just hope they release a rush/lotto system.
I think it's a show with a lot of hearts and it genuinely touches people. There were many quotes in the show that really touched me and I found myself really connecting with the characters. I got choked up a few times. I'm so glad it's doing really well. I think a lot went into making it a great show.

I was just up at the box office getting my second set of tickets and I asked, "Are people buying again?" Was told that after the Saturday matinee people were coming down to the box office to buy tickets to take friends and family. So they are getting repeats. We will see how long it lasts, I plan on seeing it a few more times, it's a fun show.
I do recommend the $55 seats in the mezz, the light show is incredible from up there and it's stadium seating with a ton of leg room.
I stopped by the theatre Sunday and asked if they were planning to announce a rush or lottery and they said as of now, no. I said "oh. Okay. Thanks" and the man at the box office said "yeah...it shocked us as well"

Aww... too bad your shoes were on, I'm curious how many there are...
"When people cannot get tickets to Hamilton, they will turn to this as the best alternative."
What is the connection between Hamilton and On Your Feet?! Like, if I can't get tickets to Hamilton... what is the natural progression that makes Gloria Estefan the obvious second choice? If you're Latino, perhaps, but now I fear I'm putting more thought into this than you did, heh.
Did not know she needed the money that badly. Seems she caught Miranda syndrome. This is the condition where the force behind Hamilton wants to make theater more accessible ,especially for Hispanics. The funny thing is that Hamilton maybe the least accessible show for many especially those he says he wants to help due to stratospheric prices.
Well in this case, Estefan Enterprises is one of the producers but they still have a fiduciary obligation to make money for the investors. And Miranda (who isn't a producer) has announced several times he is fundraising for a project to bring high school kids to Hamilton. Not many details but I'm going to just venture a guess it will be aimed at people who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford the show. So even though he doesn't set the prices, he is trying to do something.

There is no law that says people have to be able to see a show they want WHEN they want to. In 2017, you may get to see Hamilton more often.
I have no interest in this thing. I think Gloria and MSM produced mediocre pop-nothing iconic and nothing in a LONGGGGG time. No idea of the appeal. Not sure who is shelling out big bucks for this Vegas show.
