My second time since seeing Peters and Garner in late February. A beautiful performance today, by all involved. The tears streaming down her face during the Parade number is something I will never forget. Garber evolved significantly in the months past. Many standing ovations. Just glorious. The entire orchestra stood during the Dolly number, as intermittent standing ovations broke out.

There were 7 standing ovations in the orchestra, including standing for just about all of the Title number. After we stood the second time, we just didn’t sit down. Absolutely amazing afternoon, many years from cast and audience alike. There was extra love for all of the cast, and it truly felt like a closing of the show rather than just their last. Still processing all the feelings!

The title number felt like a rock concert - the orchestra sprung to its feet the moment Bernadette appeared at the top of the stairs and did not want to sit down. She was definitely tearing up, as were a few people around me. One of the most joyous moments I've experienced in the theater. Victor also received extended applause after his numbers.
What an experience that was. Iconic and breathtaking. This was my fourth time seeing Bernadette, and this was probably the best. The way the audience just showered her with love is indescribable. I was pretty much crying as the curtain fell down on Bernadette and Victor.
Only downside is the idiot sitting in front of me guffawing and just being plain obnoxious. I love the show too but goodness he needed to be more considerate of others around him.
Anyway, I can’t even imagine how closing night will be. Thank you Bernadette for your wonderful turn as Dolly!

Where were you sitting? I may have been the "idiot" in front of you.

Was the "idiot" in front of you wearing red?

You're welcome, and glad to hear it, since I have practically the same seat for closing night!

You have to lean forward a bit to see the passarelle, but it's fine.

Dollypop, where were you seated? My hunch says you were the person in red having the best time in front row center of the balcony with the infectious energy.

My 88th time!
The very first Broadway show I saw was The Magic Show in 1978. My mom took me for my 8th birthday. And, now the final show I will likely get to s'ee with my mom was Bernadette Peters' final performance of Hello, Dolly! It couldn't have been more perfect.
Peters is adorable. In good voice (all things considered) and looks AMAZING.There were times when she looked like a beautiful painting of a woman at the turn of the century.
The moment she appeared at the top of the staircase was maybe the most exciting moment I ever witnessed in the theater. It was electric. A few of the waiters had tears rolling down their faces. The affection they have for this lady was palpable.
I'm a big Patti fan, but yesterday,I finally understood how La Peters could rile an audience just as well.
I feel so lucky. Mom loved it too.

BP could not be more different than BM, but I feel lucky to have seen them both. I actually preferred Garber to DHP

Garber has really grown in the role. He wasn't that good 6 months ago.
All the reactions from last night have me very excited to be at Donna's final AND closing night. Dolly! twice in 5 days! Can't wait!!!
Yesterday was my first time ever seeing any production of Hello Dolly.
I have a question. I'm sure it's a stupid question. But I'm so curious.
How is it that Dolly is suddenly eating her meal in a court room?

The joke is that Dolly has such an unstoppable will that even though the plot has advanced to the next day, dolly will not be stopped from eating her meal! So, the rest of the cast is in the court house on Sunday morning watching her eat at the restaurant on the night before, if that makes sense.
BTW, how was your box seat?

Again, I'm sure it's my own slowness on the uptake at play here, but I don't understand your explaination. Are you saying that Dolly's hunger is so powerful, that it caused a rip in the space/time continuem, so the people in the courtroom can see her?
The box seat was good. Lots of action really close! Though, as mentioned you do miss some stuff.
Yeah. That’s exactly what lovebway is saying.
The magic of the theatre.
And I always wonder what those poor cast members are thinking when they have to stand there for 10 minutes while Dolly does her eating schtick!
