I just hope Céline gets to see this at some point. The entire team behind it clearly admires her and it seems to have been made with so much love despite the parody.
Certain people on here really should apologise for the nasty, bitter things they said in the 'what's next for the St. James' thread, regarding this coming to Broadway.

What am I missing?"
He’s magical. That’s what you are missing"
Also, please feel free to read the below spoiler box. Even if it appears he is sitting for a good portion of the show, his character and the staging are very much drivers of the plot and he has at least two songs.
He has his own grand entrance where he is voguing down the runway, after two verses of his entrance song. He is at the judge’s table actively engaging with the participants of the ball and the audience, and is a secret onlooker to Grizabella’s end of Act I moment.
He opens act II with “The Moments of Happiness” and then there’s a big to-do when he is arrested on account of Macavity, only for him to be spirited back by Mistofflees in time to award the privilege of the Heaviside Layer to Grizabella, before leading the company in “The Addressing of CATS”
Take it from someone who saw the production 13 times - if sitting was all you saw, then you may not have paid attention.

Forgive if I missed it, not that it would win, but would it be considered a musical or special event? Tonys

It would be a musical. The Special Event Tony also no longer exists.

Nah, but you should apologize for lecturing and telling people they were wrong and did not GET the bombastic musical that was Tammy Faye (RIP). We all got it, which is why it ran for 29 performances and lost $25 million.

Of course Sutton won't apologize for being WRONG. That takes decency and a strong character.

If the two hander Two Strangers with a minimal set costs 480-600K a week to run, certainly Titanique would cost more than $250k to run given its cast size I would think.

The key thing to remember is that prices on everything go up once it moves to Broadway - salaries, royalties, theatre rental, set upgrades to fill out the space, house crew, advertising to name a few. I can’t see this running for any less than $700K unless ATG gave them a sweetheart deal on certain things or Marla, Tye, Constantine and/or Celine waived royalties for a spell.
I loved this when I saw it a few years ago, I wish them all the best, but it seems weird to bring this in. But as some else said it’s not my money.

I would imagine a lot of grace is being given since there’s literally nothing on the horizons to fill that space. I don’t think anyone involved is thinking this will sell out and be a hit, etc.

This show is such a joy, I can’t wait to see what changes they make for Broadway! As for the size of the St. James, I think everyone is severely underestimating the word of mouth about this show and the draw of Titanic/Celine Dion. Will it be filled to capacity? Probs not, but I don’t know why everyone is expecting a “financial disaster.”

Because it lost money downtown and was playing to empty houses at the end of its run. Your handle makes it seem like you might be biased - redwood syndrome?

They were begging for the theater - no deal was cut.

Yeah, no babes. I actually hated Redwood, and my username is from 2014…
If a username is your strongest argument, that kind of says it all. Downtown economics and Broadway economics aren’t the same thing - ensemble syndrome?
The balcony will definitely be closed off. No way they come close to filling the 1,700 capacity. They'll be lucky to get 50% houses. I'm sure the goal of the producers here are to earn some Tony nominations so it'll look good for marketing when this tours next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if they create a small layout based on around 500 seats and budget accordingly. And if things go better, they could open up more rows. But that's not absolutely necessary.

The book for TWO STRANGERS is very well-written and, above all, original (as in, not based on any previous IP). I could see its chances of winning Best Book being bolstered by that alone.
EDIT: And now with BEACHES in the mix, this further bolsters my case

They would still need to pay rent for the entirety of the theatre. I doubt they’d be given a great deal.
Out of curiosity: in a universe where TITANIQUE were to sweep the Tonys, including Best Musical, would that be the first time that both a serious treatment and a spoof of the same subject matter ended up taking top prize?

Plot twist: get City Center to transfer Titanic and the we can have a two ship day.

Why can't they create an actual Titanic musical based on the movie!! The story of Jack and Rose would make for an incredible score, which we desperately need on Broadway. I think we could get a Les Mis level score from a hypothetical Titanic Musical. Jason Schmidt as Jack, Solea Pfeiffer as Rose, Carolee Carmello can play Ruth, Ramin Karimloo as Cal, Jennifer Simard as Molly Brown. I think it would make a ton of money and would stay on Broadway for years. Romance stories make great scores.
