She isn't prominently billed outside. On the flashing video marquee. Or elsewhere. That's my point, not her contractual billing in the program. I'm speaking about marketing strategy for a show in search of a new branding calculation post Groban.

From what I've heard, the general idea is the show will get through the summer, as it's such a popular time of year for tourists, and then a big (bigger) star is starting in the show in September.

This is indeed true, and imo the direction the show should have gone from the beginning. It's a weird, wild show all on its own

As much as I want this to be true, I really feel like they would've announced it already. I mean, if the person is coming in for Pierre, they would've probably already started rehearsing (unless they somehow already know piano/accordion well enough for the part), and I feel like the news would've came out. I think the only way this could still be true is if they're coming in for Sonya or Hélène, and I don't think any really big stars would go for smaller parts like that.

I believe this is new, but Will Chase shared this photo which does show her being promoted on the video Marquee.

The person who will be playing Pierre probably knows by now. That doesn't mean we would have to by now.

And they also don't want it to backfire: if its another BIG name, people might not buy tickets to see Oak, but wait for the "name". And if they can't get THROUGH the summer, it doesn't matter who it is.

I know that, I just mean if the person is already in rehearsal, then why on Earth wouldn't it be announced by now? It's not like keeping it a secret is helping anyone; it would only make sense to make the casting public so that people can start buying tickets/planning trips to go. They announced Oak four months before he came in.

I just gave you a reason directly above your post.

You posted that as I was writing my own post, so I didn't see it.

And while that's plausible, it doesn't make too much sense. The people who are seeing the show with Oak in it are people who want to see the show, regardless of if there's a name attached. The purpose of having a name is to bring in people who wouldn't have seen the show otherwise, so it really wouldn't make much of a difference.

Plus, if there's a big advance for the new performer, then wouldn't that just be more reason to trudge through the summer and keep it open until then?

I think that makes a lot of sense. At least for the beginning part of his run. Maybe they'll wait til August to release the name of the next actor. But I'd agree with dramamama because oak really isn't that big of a name. While yes there will be people who don't care, and people who see the new person because they want to see the actor but there will also be the people that say "hm I want to see the show but let me wait til blah blah blah comes on so I see both the show and the actor". For me it seems most people will land in that category as it is a win win to people to see the show and also get to see the big names actor. I'm excited to see who they get next! I saw Michael buble being suggested as a joke on a post before, and while I know that probably won't happen, I would love to see him take on the role.

Now offense to him, but I feel like I'm on these boards a lot and I know Hamiltion, etc, but I don't know who the hell he is or why anyone should care? or why this casting is even interesting?
