They all just made it official.  Please keep us Angelenos in your thoughts and send good vibes.  Last night was very scary and we are hunckering in for tonight.  We just got power back but it keeps flickering and the rest of our area is dark.    The air is horrible and new fires keep popping up.

Stay safe and take care during this difficult time for you.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I am in Los Feliz and thankfully never lost power last night, although the lights flickered a couple times. However one half of my street has been dark since about 6:30 this morning and there are a lot of downed trees and power lines around.

Hope all our Los Angeles BWWers stay safe!

As someone who’s relocating from Florida to the LA area, I’ve been very tuned in and thinking of y’all. Hope everyone stays safe.

I'm in Glendale and the winds have been horrible.  Never experienced wind gusts like this before.  My power went on and off multiple times Tuesday & Wednesday.  One street over from me, an entire block is still without power from early Tuesday morning.  Downed trees, power lines are all over Glendale & Burbank, and the air is thick and smoky.

We were evacuated last night.  Our place is fine .  Going to stay in Ojai one more night.  The fire near us is suspected to have been started by five masked men .

Oh Dame, I'm so glad you and your people are okay. I have been trying to find out the reason for these fires for days but it does seem like arson which is absolutely terrifying. Such devastation. Thinking of everyone impacted.

I’m near Studio City. Been without power since Tuesday with no signs of it being restored soon. Thank goodness that’s the biggest inconvenience so far aside from the constant unknown of pop up fires. I actually have tickets to Wicked tomorrow but I assume it’ll be cancelled. Hope everyone stays safe!!

I'm in Encino, very close to the Woodley Fire that broke out yesterday morning but fortunately was contained quickly. Many of our family and friends have lost everything. For those who aren't here, as bad as the TV images are, they can't convey the true scope of the devastation and displacement that has happened (and is continuing, with winds expected to pick up again tonight). The city won't be the same for many years, if ever.

FYI the Jeremy Jordan concerts that were supposed to take place at the Wallis tonight and tomorrow have been postponed to January 21 and 22.

So far only one fire has been directly caused by an arsonist and he was captured. That blaze was contained fairly quickly in the Hidden Hills area. I read a statistic that 95% of CA fires are caused by human activiity of some sort. So you get the annual winds (this year particularly strong), and a few sparks. Biggest problem was lack of water thanks to the state letting rain water run into the ocean instead of conserving it in reservoirs. The other problem was brush clearing that isn't being done. So, in addition to arsonists, you have bureaucrats who aren't doing their job...thus the 95% human cause. Glad you are safe Dame and that I and my house are safe along with the homes of everyone here who live in SoCal. Prayers for James Woods, Kennedy (from Fox) and Billy Crystal, 3 of many stars who lost their homes, and those not famous, just regular folks.

Is this the same Kennedy who covered politics on MTV in the 1990s? If so, she's a little famous to those of us who came of age in that era. She was famous enough that Murphy Brown spoofed her when the in-show news program FYI brought on a similarly edgy young journalist named McGovern.

I had no idea she was on Fox, though; of course I never watch it. From what I knew of her back then, I would have called her a social libertarian, and it's a shame that she's decided to lie down with those dogs.

I apologize for going off on this tangent. I'm also horrified by what I'm seeing from Southern California, and my thoughts are with everyone who is affected.

Oh Dame, I hope you can be back in your home safe and sound very soon.

We're in Silverlake where except for the air thick with smoke, we've been very very lucky. In fact we've been hosting a good friend from Eagle Rock who had to evacuate on Tuesday when the Eaton Fire first broke out.

The scariest night for us was Wednesday when we could easily watch the Runyon Canyon Fire from our bedroom windows. But around us the outlook has improved a good deal by today (Friday) along with much better air. Praying this weekend the LAFD gets a really good jump on all the infernos east and west. Please God, let this 5-year-long run of dreadful events in LA (fires, strikes, Covid) finally come to an end and life can return to some sort of normal.

I just received a notification from Pasadena Playhouse that they are cancelling their upcoming concert productions of Anything Goes and Follies.

Just got word that Pasadena Playhouse has canceled its upcoming concert productions of Anything Goes (with Jinkx Monsoon) and Follies (with Stephanie J. Block, Rachel Bay Jones, and Aaron Lazar).  According to the email, "our theatermakers and staff are currently unable to come together to continue the vital work of creating these monumental productions."  Fully understandable, but damn, I was really looking forward to those.

I really feel like we are being punished for some reason.  We got back home to repack.  Our place smells like a ashtray.   Even though things have calmed down I have been having real issues with the air quality and feel the irritation in my mouth and throat.  Heading to the desert to avoid what the Santa Ana's might bring this Sunday thru Wednesday.  Leaving in the morning as we couldnt get a place till then.   The news has been all over the place with wind predictions.   I am in my 60's and LA has been my home since I was 18 years old.  I am gutted.  I came on the board now  for a little diversion but I find myself reading up on all cancelations and closures.  Sending love to all of you impacted.

I'm sure everything will be canceled for awhile. I'm glad you're alright but I'm deeply sad you and thousands lost their sense of safety. I've been donating to a few organizations but please let me know if there's one in particular that needs help. If you need anything please reach out.
