I am making a trip to NY to see a few shows in near future.
Have not been in 4 years and would love to hear what folks recommend. Previously enjoyed Phantom, Les Mis and a few Frank Wildhorn shows. Did not enjoy Beauty and the Beast (went at my wife's urging) not did I enjoy Rent. Miss Saigon was ok.
Thanks for any thoughts.
soundslike you like the bigger, flashier shows... go see Wicked and probably Dracula... my personal recommendation for everyone is Caroline, Or Change...
Ave. Q and Movin' Out for musicals. For plays i'd recomand Golda's Balcony and I am My Own Wife. Enjoy! and let us know what you did see.

I'm going to make my "usual recommendation" and say The Producers. If you love Mel Brooksian humor and are looking for a good time at the theater, you can't go wrong!

Well, since my two favorites just closed...
Hairspray is a safe bet, its really fun.
I am not a big Producers fan, so I think it is dependent on everyone's personality...
I havent seen it with the current cast, and it depends on how soon you go, but Little Shop is also very cute.

i gotta go with broadwayguy2 to spread the hairspray love. also, wicked and a hundred other shows.
dont worry about q, wicked, producers and all of them right now, see caroline, its worth it. the rest will be here forever, but because caroline doesnt sell its soul so the tourists will come, it could close in the next few months

okay well 42nd street is a good choice-and the tickets are actually very cheap-or see the boy from oz before it closes-it may not be the best musical on broadway, but the way that Hugh Jackman plays Peter Allen is amazing and he has so much talent-okay and definitely avenue q if you want to see a different show

Definitely go try see The Boy From Oz. I saw it for the second time today and Hugh Jackman is amazing.
