"And how dare you show any cast members disrespect...how dare you! They have all made huge contributions to the theater community. To help keep it alive, to keep the fans happy, and to keep us able to be here discussion the wonderful world of Broadway! You may not like what they have done or you may think that they are not as talented as others do, but show them your respect. They deserve as does anyone who respects the craft."
Actors are people. Not gods. They are not owed any more respect then they show others. It has nothing to do with talent or keeping fans happy or the wonderful world of Broadway. It's about integrity.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson
"Can I just ask what the age range is here? I want to post responsively."
When has that ever stopped you?
________
No actor in Rent has made a huge contribution to theatre. A huge contribution would be being so talented that composer are writing shows for you - like Ethel Merman.
*Except Idina who made rape look sexy onstage. Sicko.

Dame, I'm an old fogey. Most of the others I have no idea about.
MB, I totally agree about that. What is the "wonderful world of Broadway?" I have not seen Anthony be disrespectful though, so I can't really understand the anger against him. I generally think you are informed and enjoy your posts.
If I were to start a "No talking about Rent" thread, it would be moved to the OT board, right?

Speaking of the old "talking about particular people people on very 'general' terms" thing...
Anyone here still dwelling on arguments (specifically about whether celebrities should join heated message board arguments about their own work) from early November or way before then needs to get over it. You (plural?) are the ONLY one here who still cares about that issue! LOL. NO ONE is really intimidated by Anthony Rapp's presence now that the film has been out for a while and we've all spoken our two cents. No one but you still has a chip on their shoulder over that. Get over it. He and I have 'shaken hands' and agreed to disagree. Frankly, I'm interested in hearing him share details about whatever projects he's doing post-Rent - assuming that he is not taking a break from acting/writing.

Anthony, who I know means well, is combative with anyone who criticies his work or RENT. I have found many of his messages - both private and public to be slightly offensive in response to my opinions, yes.
I have never talked to the man or read anything the man has posted till today. And to tell you the truth.. I think the people working around Anthonys career are doing him a disservice by not encouraging him NOT to post publicly on the board. For many, many reasons.
I have not seen them, and so have no clue, I only saw how it looked in this particular thread. It is unfortunate we can't all appreciate the insight each person bring and be civil. If Anthony is incapable of that, that is a problem. If he was provoked, by someone (MB or someone else) and felt the need to become defensive, that is seperate issue. He is no better or worse than the rest of us, but he does have a close association with RENT, again I can see being defensive about it, even though I do not agree that that is a good thing.
