Regina Comet

Has anyone else seen this yet? I saw this on Tuesday night and thought it was a good time. The story needs some fine tuning, but Alex Wyse and Ben Fankhauser are great fun. The show is very funny, but has a new musical problem of too many songs and a plot that ambles a bit.

However, Bryonha Marie Parham is a star and having a lot of fun with her part and in great voice.

Overall this is the type of show that I miss seeing off broadway. One that is a good time and doesn't have any lofty ambitions other than 80 minutes of fun.

I adored this show, it's so much fun! I strongly encourage tourists of our fine city to support this show. It is far away from the streets of Broadway but absolutely worth it. Support this gem of a show, these people are SO damn talented!

Glad to hear these good reports on the show from people who have gone so far. I had one slot left in my October trip and decided to book The Visitor instead. But now that Sleep No More pushed back their reopening date to February, I think I can slide Regina Comet in its place!

Out of curiosity, are they actually doing fully vaccinated audiences. On their ticket page it says they are also accepting proof of negative tests. I am fully vaccinated.

Hey guys, just a heads up if anyone is going tonight, three hours ago they announced (on FB/IG) that tonight all 100 seats will be reserved for black identifying people (students, artists, theatergoers, theater makers). This is a positive thing but I wish they had announced this earlier, as two of my friends (one white, one Asian-American) had tickets for this evening and have been asked to donate their tickets.

Awesome concept, poorly executed.

Saw this one last night and had a really fun time!

Agree that the script needs some fine-tuning if there are plans for this to play elsewhere after this run, particularly Alex Wyse's character and his jokes. The grandma bit fell completely flat on our audience each time it came up.

The music is fun and catchy, and Bryonha Marie Parham was FANTASTIC as Regina Comet.

There were not many open seats for the 8pm Saturday performance, so I think the show is doing a good job of getting butts in chairs at the last minute. My friend and I got our tickets the night before and there appeared to be plenty of open seats at the time.

Overall I definitely think it's worth checking out before it closes in a few weeks!

Yeah, terrible execution and I'd feel the same way. Like, you don't know what people did to make it to this night. Babysitters, Ubers, etc. Like nah.

I thought the show was cute and a fun night out. It was clearly a passion project for the people involved, which definitely added a layer to the enjoyment.

I would be raging if they at the last minute asked me to exchange my ticket. As has been said, it's an interesting concept but very poorly thought out.

Thanks, but my friends got refunds and won't be supporting your show simply because unlike other shows that have done Black out nights, your show didn't announce that until the day of the performance, October 12th. That is just poor marketing. My friends felt very uncomfortable and confused, and as your show stated on their FB page that day "The 100 seats of the DR2 Theatre will be occupied by an audience of Black identifying artists, theatermakers and students.". So, that's the entire theater. My two friends don't identify as Black. How else would one possibly interpret that?

The Telecharge people couldn't believe my friends and thought they were actually lying until they were emailed your FB announcement made October 12th. Then the refund was issued in 45 minutes no questions asked.

Black outs are great, but not the way you and your team decided to randomly and suddenly do it the day of the performance. Next time, advanced notice would be appreciated by all.

I've seen your show. It's cute but nothing I'd ever see again so I respectfully decline your offer. Thanks.

That really depends on where the restaurant is in relation to the theatre. I was there last night and the 8pm show got out closer to 9:30pm. Most places have a 15 min grace period so that's for your to determine.

I was just thinking about this show and realized the cast album still isn’t out yet. Given they said “early 2022” I expected it to be out long ago. Any word on this? Has it been scrapped?

Midwestern theatre lover and frequent NYC tourist here. People outside of Manhattan do enjoy theatre. Shocking!
