The plot thickens further...
If you don't know him, Joey is Comet's drummer (I sat next to him in the box once- he's a cool guy). I've read this article and people have shared it with me, but I follow Joey on twitter and the fact that Joey confirmed it is... pretty amazing.

I actually gasped when I opened the Poison Oak tweet...
Wow.

I'd love to be a fly on their wall during one of their rehearsals. Damn.

It's a shame that the only real information we're getting about this situation is from Riedel, because I have no idea whether to trust it or not.
I... that last one.
I think it's safe to say Oak won't be doing anything for a long, long while.

But now we have Joey, who is on the record here confirming the entire article. And may I just say, the "Poison Oak" tweet is one of the shadiest things I have seen in YEARS.
Karma's a bitch, Oak. Better hope Jeffery Seller will let him back into Hamilton in a few years for much less than he was making last year.

Can't be true, all these people told me on here it was childish to blame Oak /s

Not surprising in the least. I saw Oak during his last week in Hamilton and he was terrible. Totally phoned it in. Couldn't understand a thing he was saying because he mumbled his way through the show. Completely unprofessional. Good riddance.
Jesus. It's a shame that being one of the least buzzed about principals in the original Hamilton cast made someone become such a diva.

And everyone brushed me off when I said he wasn't prepared musically.

I see Cynthia's been on a twitter storm defending her actions (sips tea). What "facts" do you have, Cynthia?

If it's any sort of consolation, I believed you. Don't know how you're connected to the show but you've always been right about it.
Only surprising thing in the article is the last bit about Dave being "unpopular" with the investors. I understand how throwing the show's financial info out there wasn't the best move, but I hope it doesn't reflect on him negatively for any extended period od time. I need more of his shows being produced asap, and it'd be a shame if that one, well-meaning tweet keeps him from gaining backers in the future.

WTF?? I was already turned against Oak from his lack of statements, but if this is true he owes the entire cast an apology. There's no excuse for not being prepared after being announced FOUR MONTHS in advance, let alone his actions with Patinkin.

I believed you, too! Starting a show a week late (especially after you've been cast in it for at least five months) isn't a thing.
I don't think it's going to affect Oak or Rafael as much as I might like. There's going to be tons of people who are going to say that they did a great thing and pump them up. He might not get broadway jobs but he's not blacklisted. RC is ok bc he's hot and that takes you far. You can't even talk negative about Erivo bc her twitter followers are a mini beyhive. I saw a few negative tweets to her and her fans POUNCED!
as usual, Riedel is half right and half wrong.

Oh, I think people on Bway have a long memory, especially if none of the people you just mentioned only have rabid fan bases instead of significant ticket-selling capabilities

HogansHEro, where is Riedel "half wrong", seeing as Cassata confirmed all of it?

He'd rather tweet bs praise to each person than actually save their jobs
Riedel is correct and this story has been confirmed to me by someone in the production.

And yet people on here said that they should have been up front about their financial situation in the original Mandy announcement...yeah, that is not a smart move. That being said, I hate the thought of the investors being upset with Malloy, and I agree, I hope more of his work gets produced. especially his adaptation of Moby Dick that he is working on. Can't wait for that.
Ever since his "I've done other things than Hamilton" phrase on his playbill bio, I've known Oak was rude and, generally speaking, disrespectful. I hope this story gets out to more people and it gets recognized, let's try to see the Oak apologists play the victim card now.
